Healthy Food Made Easy

Healthy Food Made Easy (HFME) is a national programme devised by the Health Promotion Unit of the Department of Health and Children, in conjunction with the Community Nutrition Service of the HSE.

It is a peer-led, 6 session course with each session being 2-2 ½ hours duration. Each 2 ½ hour session includes topics like nutrition theory and a practical cookery element. The emphasis throughout the programme is on group learning rather than formal teaching.

The course is open to anyone aged 16 years and over, who is interested in learning about nutrition, how to read and understand food labels, wanting to eat healthy, delicious and nutritious food while maintaining a budget.

Healthy Food Made Easy is a practical but enjoyable course, and everyone can participate.

Weaning: Baby Food Made Easy

Every month, in partnership with the HSE in Dublin North City and County, we deliver a free online weaning cooking and information session.

This session is facilitated by a HSE community dietitian and includes a cooking demo and food safety information from our Empower Healthy Food Made Easy Coordinator.

The session covers how, when and what to feed your baby, and is open to parents of babies aged 3-9 months. It is interactive and you will be able to have your questions answers. You don’t have to have your camera on if you don’t wish to.

It is usually held on a Tuesday morning from 10am-11.30am. We have been running this session online since July 2020 and the feedback from participants has been very positive. Over 90% of participants have told us they feel more confident about weaning their baby having attended the session.

You can book a place online by completing this form.

You can choose from a list of upcoming dates on the form.

A link to the Zoom meeting will be sent to you on the day before the session.
