RENO, Nev. — Two bigger-than-usual earthquakes hit the Carson City area Thursday morning.

At 5:24 a.m., a magnitude 3.6 quake was reported about 4 miles south-southeast of Carson City. Six minutes later at 5:30 a.m., a magnitude 3.4 quake was reported at about the same spot.

The preliminary measurements were reported by the Nevada Seismological Laboratory  at the University of Nevada, Reno.

People in Carson City reported on Twitter that they felt the shakes — including Charles Moore, chief of Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District.
