Pool Noodle Pour Station * ages 2+

It doesn’t get much better than water play on a hot summer day. I am always looking for new ways to make playing with and pouring water more fun. This pool noodle pour station took only a few minutes to set up and has entertained my kids for several days straight!  This activity incorporates gross motor skills, sensory play and problem solving….not to mention it’s just plain fun!

How to Make a Pool Noodle Pour Station:

  1. Start by having an adult cut your pool noodles into 1-2 feet sections using the bread knife.
  2. Next take your pool noodle pieces and using a pipe cleaner secure them to a chain link fence or piece of lattice next to the house. Wrap the ends of the pip cleaner together and then stick them into the pool noodle to hold in place.
  3. (Optional) Keep one noodle long and set up an extra bin to catch water that’s poured down the long noodle. Pool Noodle Pour Station
  4. Now add the funnels to the tops of the pool noodles.
  5. Place the large plastic bin below the pool noodles and fill the bin about 1/4-1/2 of the way full of water.
  6. Add some measuring cups to use as pourers.
  7. Now step into m the plastic bin and start to pour the water into the funnels. As the water falls through the funnels it is caught in the plastic bin and can be reused and poured again and again.

Variations for Older Kids:

My oldest son (age 10) used the measuring cups to see how much of the water he could catch on the bottom after he poured it through the top. He found that it he poured 1 cup of water, he was able to catch about 1/2 a cup at the bottom.
