“31 August 2016 Testimonial / Endorsement of Dr Sammy Li I knew of Sammy well before I actually started working with him in September 2014 when he was appointed as Chair of the LGBT Staff Network. His colleagues were speaking highly of him and commenting on how hard working and efficient he was. This all turned out to be true. I have had the pleasure of working with Sammy on various LGBT projects and events such as the Stonewall Workplace Index, Pride events and LGBT film screenings at the Arena Theatre, Wolverhampton which included “The Wedding Banquet” directed by Ang Lee and “Pride” directed by Mike Leigh. All the events that Sammy has been involved in managing and overseeing have proved to be very successful. He is a skilled networker and is extremely competent at managing people, multiple and complex projects to a high standard of completion. Sammy’s drive and commitment to advancing equality is particularly strong as he operates from an authentic position and lived experience that adds value and credibility to the work that he is doing. Sammy is an exceptional individual with strong leadership qualities and is capable of turning words and actions into concrete results. HEFCE Diversity and Inclusion Ambassador Programme

Joint project of the University of Manchester, the Univeristy of Birmingham, Manchester Metropolitan University, and their Students' Unuons and Guild to improve outcomes, especially attainment and student experience, for Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) students and those from low social-economic groups. The project uses a co-production model engaging students as partners to deliver effective and sustainable change. The total project funding is approximately £770,000.
