*I received this book as a gift in exchange for my honest opinion...

.... and, my honest opinion is that I like it. I really do! Wasn't expecting such twist of actions between all characters. I'm thinking that the strong point here in this story is that everybody thought that Emma was a little scared woman who would be grateful to be noticed by someone. Well, this someone was no one less then the running young candidate to mayor, who needed a wife who didn't make waves. Guess again bud... Emma may be lacking in self esteem and confidence, but she sure ain't a dumb ass.
Emma struggled all her life with the loving missing dad and dedicated her life to her mother who got broken due to a car accident.
When she meets a long life old "friend" Ruben she only wants to get along with it and move on. Nothing warned her that she would meet also Jesse, a lovely young man who points his attention directly to her.
Along the story we can actually see the changes in Emma. Since the day she lost her most important person, to the day she realizes that the man she married with is not the man she really loves. On the verge of looknig for Ruben's youngest and lost brother, we see Emma grow and become a lovely and strong woman.
The very best thing on this story was really the growth of Emma as a human being that learned to love herself and also the fact that was she that went looking for what she didn't really know she was looking for (confusing? Yeah.. I know). Along the way she meets wonderful people. It's them that will restore her love in life and her trust in people.
The only thing i dind't like much was the fact that we have so little of Emma and Axel... you will see why I say this, as long as you read it.
Although it is a love story, I firmly believe that this is a story that shows us how to deal with the adversities that life gives us and to forgive those who have put us down and still thinks that they're the right one's.

Don't miss this one out!

At first look , you’ll think this is an easy and quick romance but it’s not quite like that. It has so much more to discover. A journey of growth and self discovery of a young woman that agrees to marry an old flame just to find out that nothing is what it seems. The only way out is to find his missing brother and she’s in for the ride of her life. I don’t agree with some of her decisions and I doubt she is really willing to trade her life like that in the end but in the end, the whole situation is not a normal one so while it’s not predictable, it works in here.
It’s an enjoyable story with interesting characters and a few twists that I didn’t expect but overall a great book that many people will enjoy.

Emma Bowen enjoyed her work at the library, but referred to herself as a gray mouse, rarely bothering with makeup or fashionable clothes. Caring for her disabled mother while working full time was difficult for Emma, especially after her father’s death, however, she never complained about her responsibilities. When an old friend from the trailer park where she had grown up came into the library, dressed in a spectacular three piece suit, she was both startled and embarrassed that Ruben Templeton remembered her.

Ruben did remember Emma, as a quiet, complacent girl who, he believed, would be the perfect wife for his best friend Jesse Kimball III. Jesse had political aspirations, like his father and grandfather, and needed a suitable wife to show that he was a responsible family man in addition to being the perfect candidate for mayor. Jesse stepped in, swept Emma off her feet, and offered her the guesthouse on the Kimball estate for Emma and her mother’s use as her mother was dying from cancer. He promised to take care of the funeral, and made all the arrangements for their wedding, held much too soon after the funeral. Emma soon learned that she was to be available at all times, be ready for photo opportunities, and that she was never to fight back or retaliate in any way. Jesse’s cruelty and indifference wounded Emma, and when she went to Ruben, pleading for help, he proposed she travel the country searching for his younger brother Axel, who had been missing from the family for more than ten years.

Eagles in Flight takes us along on Emma’s cross country journey, through Iowa and Wyoming, until she ends up in a small town outside of Portland, Oregon. This is the story of Emma’s rebirth as she learns to rely on herself, to process her feelings of loss as she grieves for her mother and for the death of her short-lived marriage. I enjoyed seeing Emma mature and become a stronger person throughout her road trip, and appreciated her resiliency in her search for Axel. Ramcy Diek’s second novel is as delightful as the first, and I can hardly wait to read her next novel.

“Happiness is being like the eagle in flight that soars above the troubles of the world, relishing the present and letting go of the difficulties in the past.”

My thanks to the author for providing this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was an enjoyable read, a journey of self-discovery and growth through some of the most challenging of circumstances. This is a compassionate story of a young woman who, through no fault of her own, gets swept up into a world she doesn't feel altogether at ease in and does not comprehend. Tragedy strikes, sparking off a chain of events that will lead her on the journey of a lifetime, in both a literal and metaphorical sense. Ramcy Diek explores the full spectrum of emotions- from love and compassion to hatred, anger, fear, bitterness and dread. Each character is real, well-shaped, genuine, human. Whether you like them or not, these characters (and their stories) will leave an impression. Although I felt this story was somewhat predictable at times, there was enough mystery and answers I hadn't guessed to make this a worthwhile read.

Emma's dazzled when her childhood crush asks her out. Unfortunately, it's not he who calls her after. No, Jesse is the one she'll ultimately marry. But when he changes seemingly without provocation, will it drive Emma further into her insecurities, or will it be the catalyst for her growth?

I so did not expect the twistiness of this crazy good story. I love how much Emma grows and develops, and I love whom she ends up falling for. This is a compelling read, a story of growth and change, and a story of healing and love. So great!

Impressive! Draws the reader in and takes them for a ride. Eagles in Flight by Ramcy Diek

Eagles in Flight is a masterful example of Ramcy Diek’s ability to create characters readers bond with. The story takes you on a road filled with soaring highs, devastating lows, and the emotional growth that comes with finding ones true sole mate. Ramcy’s lead character, Emma is someone nearly everyone can identify with and all of us should learn from. Whether or not you’re a fan of the Romance genre, it’s hard not to like Eagles in Flight!

I enjoyed listening to the audio version of this book. At first glance it is a girl meets boy love story but it soon becomes clear that there is much more to the story. I love Emma’s character and how she develops throughout. There are quite a few twists and turns within the story that had me gripped and wanting to hear more. The narrator was great. It’s a thumbs up

I always think novels are good when you have strong reactions to them - or to the characters. While listening to this, I got angry, sad, sympathetic, happy and cried. Emma is a lovely character and goes through an amazing self discovery, which I took to be more the central theme than romance. I enjoyed it, a lovely, cosy, country feel romance.

This was such a beautiful book that dealt with secrets, romance, self-discovery and empowerment, and I loved reading it!

When the story started, I thought it was cute and interesting. But I completely fell in love with it once Emma takes the road trip that changes her life. I loved every moment of Emma’s adventures during these chapters and how she grows as a person. Truly, the author wrote the story in such a beautiful manner that put a smile on my face.

Moreover, I fell in love with Emma as soon as the story started. She is a timid librarian who soon gets tangled in the lives of the Templetons. However, you see how she grown into an independent lady once she goes on the trip on her quest. All the supporting characters she meets along the way are so memorable, like Bernard, Edwina, Sheep, Raven, Adelyn and Dora.

Furthermore, I loved the author’s style of writing. She has such a brilliant talent for writing chemistry between characters, because I even loved the romance between Emma and Jesse (before things fell apart). Moreover, the author progresses the characters in such a nice manner that you start to love the ‘bad guys’ too. Similarly, I liked the reason for Jesse treating Emma that way after marriage, and it made me like him too! And let’s not forget ‘Eagle’ and Emma, who had sizzling chemistry. On a side note, I love the lavish landscape the author paints of Iowa and Wyoming when Emma goes on her trip.

Overall, Eagles in Flight was a beautiful, charming, and endearing contemporary love story which I enjoyed more than expected!

This is a wonderfully written novel which had me gripped from start to finish and I found it hard to put the book down. Main character Emma is a rather shy, timid twenty seven year old who lives a quiet life and works at the library. Emma’s life dramatically changes when she is asked out on a date by Ruben Templeton. However she is disappointed when Ruben's best friend Jesse Kimball joins them, Jesse is a senator's son who has just announced his candidacy for mayor. Having invited her to his birthday party Jesse sweeps her off her feet and when Emma receives devastating news Jesse asks her to marry him. When their marriage starts to deteriorate Emma turns to Ruben for advice. Ruben asks Emma to go on a cross country road trip with him to find his missing younger brother Axel, so that Emma and Jesse can have some time apart. The more time Ruben and Emma spend together the more likely it seems that Emma might find love in the arms of another man. The descriptive narrative really bought the characters and the setting to life especially the places they visit on their road trip. The author has a way of making you feel engaged with the characters and I felt immersed in the story. The plot moved the storyline on at a good pace and was unpredictable enough to keep me guessing as to how the book would end. I would definitely recommend this novel.

Emma is a. Fledgling eagle and is ripe for unscrupulous people to enter her life. An old friend from childhood happens to see her and she is smitten by him. However, it’s his friend , Jessie a budding Politician who turns her head. He courts and romances her until she says yes.

The marriage takes a dramatic turn right after the ,I do! It’s like being married to Dr.Jeckyl and Mr.Hyde! She turns to Reuben her friend and he suggests a short timeout and she can look for his brother Axel who has been missing for years. She thinks it’s a great idea and the adventure of her life choices begins.
Emma is looking for a Eagle who left its nest and she has to decide if she to is going to leave her nest!

The author has done a wonderful job in keeping the book flowing from one situation to the next. The adventures are so poignant and intriguing. The writing is expressive and I found myself wanting to turn the pages.

I definitely would recommend this book to anyone looking for a great read!

I received an advanced copy from NetGalley and these are my willingly given thoughts and opinions.

An emotional tale of deceit, loss and love. Emma enjoys her library job and lives a quiet life with her beloved mother. When she is introduced to electoral candidate, wealthy Jesse, her life changes beyond her wildest dreams. Things very quickly take a tragic turn leaving Emma's world shattered. She agrees to track someone down and the journey is a time to get things in perspective. This is a hard hitting story, betrayal beyond belief, domestic abuse, family secrets and lies. It is brilliantly written and a gripping read.

Nothing like a good love story

I read Ramcy's first book and loved it. I was as pleased with this second book. I enjoy a good love story! This was a fast read and a good plot. You want to admonish the bad guy but in the end you forgive him just like his family did. Good job Ramcy.

Eagles in Flight

The story was very good and I think The author captured the personalities of the characters very well. I enjoyed traveling through the different states with Emma the lead character as well. Even though the plot was pretty predictable for me, I enjoyed being right about how I hoped the characters would end up. Loved the ending. 😍

When I first started Eagles in Flight I wasn't entirely convinced that I was going to be able to get into it. It wasn't long before I was hooked by the story as it unfolded. Although this is a romance novel, it's perhaps not a romance in the traditional sense of the genre.
Emma is a librarian. She lives with her mother, who is wheelchair-bound and longs to see her settled and happily married. When Ruben, someone she knew growing up introduces her to Jesse, a mayoral candidate, she finds herself swept away in a whirlwind romance. All isn't as it appears though and it isn't long before Emma finds herself questioning what love really is and finding it in unexpected places.
Emma is a very naive character. It may not be obvious to her what is going on, but to the reader, I think that the motives of Jesse and Ruben are pretty clear. It even becomes clear fairly early on what their feelings are and why they are acting as they are.
The only thing I struggled with was Jesse's behaviour. He seems to act in one way one minute and then when we meet him later his character seems to have changed entirely. In fact, some of his actions make no sense in the context of his motives. Or they didn't to me.
Ultimately, this is a story with a happy ending and one that will leave you satisfied. Emma certainly deserves that happiness. If like me, you struggle with this one to begin with, then I urge you to persevere with what is in the end, a very enjoyable read.

I knew Diek could write an intriguing romance. I did not know she could write an outstanding paranormally tinged romantic suspense, but that's exactly what she did with Eagles in Flight. It's laugh out loud hilarious, the tension between the characters yummy, and the secondary characters are as fabulous as the two leads. I am so excited for more from Diek.*I received a complimentary copy from the author and Truly Trendy PR in exchange for a review.*

Emma is a single, shy, quiet, librarian. Emma I imagine is just like any other woman/girl who is always looking for her soulmate. On the surface, I think Emma has just about given up on finding her soulmate. So I could just imagine how surprised and happy she must have been when a long-time friend, Ruben, whom she hasn’t seen in like forever crosses her path.

Emma is happy when her old friend, Ruben asks her out but she is surprised when she arrives for her date that he has invited a friend of his own, Jesse. She is even more surprised when Jesse is the one who calls the next day to ask her out again.

Jesse sweeps Emma off her feet after a few short months and asks her to marry him. Jesse is running for Mayor and is in need of a wife. Emma is very taken with Jesse and accepts. After they are married things start to change. Jesse is no longer the same man she married. What is wrong with him? What happened to him?

Emma can’t take the way Jesse is treating her. She believes that he is having an affair. Emma goes to see her friend Ruben to ask for his help in getting a divorce but he refuses at first but then relents. Ruben suggests that she and Jesse just need some time apart. Ruben asks Jesse to look for his brother Axel who disappeared over ten years ago. Emma agrees to look for his brother.

I felt so bad for Emma after she and Jesse were married. I was so upset with Jesse at how he had changed and the way he treated Emma. But at the end of the day and all of their secrets were laid bare for everyone to see and I saw Jesse for who he was which wasn’t that hard for me to figure out I quite understand Jesse even if he went about it the wrong way.

All the twists in Eagles in Flight is what kept the pages turning for me. Well, and all the characters and going on a wonderful road trip with Emma and getting to meet new people and watching Emma grow with more confidence and watching Emma let her true self come out. It was nice to see Jesse let his true self out as well.

I truly enjoyed reading Eagles in Flight. I knew after reading Overland that I would like Eagles in Flight. I love Ramcy Diek’s writing style and how she can make the characters and each scene come alive right on the page. I can’t wait to read more of Ramcy Diek’s novels.

I highly recommend Eagles in Flight to all romantic suspense fans. One-click your copy of Eagles in Flight today!

Ramcy Diek shows her creative writing genius in this romantic thriller. This isn’t a typical romance novel, but an intriguing story of love combined with manipulation, deceit, bereavement with dark revelations being brought to the surface.

Emma doesn’t believe her luck when she is introduced to Jesse Kimball a high profiled politician running for election, by her childhood crush Ruben Tempelton. Just at her most vulnerable when her mother dies from cancer, Jesse proposes to Emma which gives her security and some emotional stability.

It isn’t until after the marriage is sealed that Emma begins to recognise that she has been duped into the marriage to enhance Jesse's public image. Jesse changes and shows no physical affection, romance or tenderness towards her anymore, his character changes into one of a cold and distant husband, whose only concern is winning the election campaign. It is when he physically hits her that Emma realises it’s time to leave.

In an attempt to delay Emma filing for divorce and raising any damaging publicity against Jesse at the most poignant stage in his election campaign, Ruben sends Emma off on a journey to find his long-lost brother Axel who abandoned the family a decade ago, in return for helping with her divorce from Jesse. Ruben deceives Emma by telling her it is because his father is dying, he wants to reconcile with his brother and bring him home to say goodbye to their father.

As Emma sets off on her journey, she not only meets different characters who guide her to finding Axel, but she also finds her self-confidence along her adventures. As the story progresses, more hidden scandals are revealed regarding the facade which Jesse and Ruben had concocted and how they used Emma as a pawn.

This novel becomes increasingly gripping as the story unfolds. It becomes difficult to put down. It is very well written and a delight to read. It isn’t heavy or boring at any stage. I highly recommended this novel.
