The Consortium Palliative Care North-Holland and Flevoland aims to facilitate the highest possible quality of life in the last phase of life for all. This is a collaboration of ten regional networks of palliative care in the regions, Expertise Center for Palliative Care Amsterdam UMC and PZNL.

Objective

To make lasting connections between healthcare practice, research and education to improve palliative care and facilitate the highest possible quality of life in the last phase of life for all.

From Amsterdam UMC, the partner is the Expertise Center for Palliative Care Amsterdam UMC (organizationally housed in Division 10, but many departments outside the division are also involved, such as medical oncology and anesthesiology).

Examples

of activities in the field of education and training

  • Combine and jointly organize basic continuing education for healthcare professionals from the different networks
  • Setting up an education hub at consortium level to develop and provide insight into all training (including, for example, developing a palliative care profile program for vocational schools)

of activities in the field of research

  • Setting the agenda with regard to relevant research topics and cooperating in various studies
  • Research hub (mutual cooperation in which practitioners provide relevant research questions and cooperates in projects, while scientists carry out projects and provide feedback on results, if possible in the form of implementation projects)

of activities in the area of care (innovation)

  • Sigmaset (improving palliative care in nursing homes through action research). After a project in which the sigmaset was developed in cooperation with practitioners, there is now a project aimed at (researching) its implementation
  • Cura methodology (low threshold support in morally difficult situations in care). After a project in which the cura method was developed in cooperation with practitioners, there is now a project aimed at (investigating) its implementation

Established in 2014.
There is structural cooperation. A contract has been concluded with the partners.
