Surgical Curriculum in Obstetrics and Gynecology

The CREOG Surgical Skills Task Force created this standardized surgical skills curriculum for use in training residents in obstetrics and gynecology. The five components of these modules include:

  • The objective, description, and assessment of the module
  • A description of the simulation
  • The description of the surgical procedure
  • A quiz which must be passed in order to proceed to evaluation by a faculty member and
  • An evaluation form to be downloaded and printed by the learner.

Each Surgical Curriculum in Ob-Gyn (SCOG) unit was written and approved by FACOG experts. Units are reviewed every three years by members of the CREOG Education Committee for accuracy.

Residents

Read the objectives and content for each module and then take the quiz. You will use the answer key provided to self-grade your quiz. After completing the quiz, print the evaluation form found on the Evaluation tab. These forms can be used for evaluation in the simulation lab or during an operative procedure. Have your faculty evaluator fill out and sign the form, and then give the completed form to your program director or program manager.

Faculty Members

Each module contains a description of the simulation needed to be set up for resident evaluation. Fill out and sign the evaluation and have the resident give it to the program director or program manager.

Program Directors and Program Managers

Residents will complete and self-grade each module’s quiz once they are done reading through and performing the content for each module. They can print the evaluation form from the Evaluation tab of each module and have the faculty evaluator fill it out, prior to giving it to you for review and storage. If you would like to keep track of your residents progress through the surgical curriculum, please ensure they know to have the evaluation filled out and submitted on their behalf.
