The city has a rich culture of rudimental drumming with over 5000 drummers in the traditional „Fasnacht“. Florian started drumming at 7 years old in a group for Fasnacht called „Spale-Clique“. At 16 years old, he joined the drum school of the world famous show drumming group Top Secret Drum Corps. After 3 years he made the cut and became member of the snare line of TSDC. From 2012 to 2018 (with a brief absence in 2017) he travelled with the corps to China, USA, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, all over Europe and many more. During his career in TSDC, he performed twice in The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo and twice in his hometown at the Basel Tattoo. One of the highlights was definitely the 90. birthday celebrations for H.M. The Queen at Windsor Castle in 2016. Today Florian is teaching children and adults in the traditional „Basel-Style“ and still drumming himself in Spale-Clique. He is also an active serving member of the Swiss Army as a rudimental drummer.
