In her article, Ruti introduces LightSolver’s quantum-inspired technology which harnesses the power of lasers to compute faster than the most powerful classical and quantum computers. Our CEO Ruti Ben-Shlomi recently had the opportunity to speak to Dan O'Shea of Fierce Electronics about our newly released LPU100 laser-based computing system. Compared to a QPU, Ruti emphasized: “We aren't building processing units based on qubits or quantum mechanic principles. The LPU is based on laser physics.” Ruti further explained that “LightSolver is ‘quantum-inspired’ because it mimics some aspects of quantum computers, such as scanning all possibilities in parallel, due to the highly parallel nature of its laser configuration.” The LPU100 is available today through our cloud platform, and can tackle optimization tasks much more quickly than a traditional GPU. This provides enterprises with a low-risk, low-cost way to try out a new advanced computing system that can solve business problems common to industries such as finance, logistics, aerospace, and more. A great article in Nature Portfolio examines the future of computing and the benefits of optical solutions. The University of Tokyo professor, Akira Furusawa, believes that computers powered by light are the most promising solution in terms of operation speed, energy efficiency, and scalability, and will be leading the next wave of innovation.
