What is Collaborative Action Research (CAR)?

CAR is grounded in lived experience, developed in partnership of individuals working in teams, addresses significant problems, works with (rather than simply studies) people, and develops new ways of seeing and interpreting the world.

The motivation for designing this study, and, in turn, this site, as a CAR project is to have ESOL teachers who work with students with interrupted schooling become co-researchers in an effort to disrupt the traditional separation between researcher and participant.

We have collectively decided to create a resource for teachers and administrators to better reach this population.
