Scottish Lockdown Swiss Teams

The Scottish Lockdown Swiss Teams started in April 2020 due to the enthusiasm of Harry Smith with some technical help from Paul Gipson. It was open to all players, worldwide, who were in good standing with their National Bridge Organisation. It was never affiliated with, or endorsed by, the SBU

Harry and Paul decided that the sixteenth Scottish Thursday Swiss Teams would be the last in the series.  It all started in the dark days of Covid lockdowns but the world has now moved on with many other bridge games and events open to players both online and face-to-face.  We have seen the event and the other Covid games we initially organised, develop from small beginnings into events attracting an international entry.  We have enjoyed organising all of it and hope you, the players, have enjoyed participating.

Overall we have provided 171 evenings of bridge, 3,889 BBO team matches and 93,000 boards. As the scorer, Paul has entered over 4,000 results with about three errors. Three Scottish players have been convicted of cheating and one foreign player stopped playing when we expressed concern to their NBO.

No master points nor prizes were awarded and our income and expenditure were both zero.

It successfully ran longer than either of us imagined.

We look forward to seeing you across the table, whether online or face-to-face, in the future.

Completed events are shown in the archive.

The winners of the 16th Scottish Lockdown Swiss Teams were Chris Bosenberg, Martin Grunder, Hennie Fick, Chris Castelein and Imtiaz Kaprey.
