Prof. Rogier Sanders received an honorary doctorate from the University of Southampton in recognition of his significant contributions to virus and vaccine research. His groundbreaking discovery involves a protein-stabilizing method that enhances the effectiveness of vaccines against various viruses. 1. Young Talent - Startstipendium Are you a talented young researcher, in possession of your PhD degree and in need of a financial boost for your innovative research or education project?
The Startstipendium from the Spinoza Fund of the Amsterdam University Fund will support eight talented scientists of Amsterdam UMC in 2023 with €25.000 each to bring their professional career a step further.

2. Beijerinck Premium The Beijerinck Premium is awarded to a young scientist who is conducting original and outstanding virus-related research. The laureate receives a monetary award of EUR 25,000.
Who is it for: Early-career researchers in the Kingdom of the Netherlands who are conducting outstanding virus-related research and who are therefore setting an example for other young virologists.
Who may submit a nomination: Members of the Academy and The Young Academy, deans of universities and full professors in the Netherlands and directors of research institutes in the Netherlands.

3. Amsterdam UMC TKI Grant All Amsterdam UMC researchers seeking funding for a public-private partnership (PPP) project can apply for the Amsterdam UMC TKI Grant with a value between €300,000 and €750,000.
There is a total subsidy budget of approximately €9 million available, which will be divided among the best PPP research proposals that are received.
