7th International Workshop on the Causes of Childhood Leukemia

November 28th to November 30th in Munich

Leukemia is the most common cancer in children worldwide, accounting for up to one third of all cancer cases. Several advances in the past decades have led to remarkable enhancements in treatment of and survival from childhood leukemia. However, these successes cannot hide the fact that knowledge of the complex causes of the disease, that may help implementing preventative measures, is still lacking. To push forward the research on the causes of childhood leukemia, the German Federal Office for Radiation Protection (BfS) – and varying partners – jointly organized six scientific meetings on a nearly bi-annual basis. These workshops serve as a platform for direct exchange between scientists of various disciplines; for discussion of the knowns and unknowns; and for definition of a long-term strategic research agenda with the overall aim towards a better understanding of the main causes of childhood leukemia. The BfS also seeks to make the workshop discussions available for a broad interested public and the results of previous workshops were published (Ziegelberger et al. Blood Cancer Journal 2011, Laurier et al. J Radiol Prot 2014, Schmidt et al. Front Public Health 2021).

To continue its workshop series on the causes of childhood leukemia, the BfS is organizing a 7th international workshop that will be held at Kolpinghaus in Munich, on November 28-30, 2022. Because of its hybrid format, you will be able to participate either onsite or online. Upon registration, please indicate if you will attend in person or online and if you will submit an abstract.

Abstract submission deadline extended: Abstracts for short talks is open until October 9th, 2022. Please use the provided template in Downloads for your abstract.

We cordially invite you to attend and contribute to the 7th International Workshop on the Causes of Childhood Leukemia!
