Background

Tracy L. Dumas, associate professor, earned her PhD in Management and Organizations from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. She also holds an MS in Industrial Relations from Loyola University Chicago, and a BS from Northwestern University.

Dumas’ research addresses the interface between employees’ personal and professional lives with a focus on understanding how management practices can help employees to excel at work while also engaging meaningfully in their communities.  Her research is published in leading outlets including Academy of Management Annals, Academy of Management JournalAcademy of Management Review, Journal of Applied Psychology, Organization Science, Personnel Psychology, Harvard Business Review, Research on Managing Groups and Teams, and Duke Journal of Gender Law & Policy

Prior to joining Fisher, Dumas was a visiting assistant professor at Emory University’s Goizueta Business School, and an assistant professor of organizational sciences at George Washington University.  Prior to entering academia, Dumas managed client projects for a Chicago-based consulting and research firm specializing in work force issues.

Courses

BUSMHR 7244 - Negotiations
Highlight the components of an effective negotiation and teach students to analyze their own behavior in negotiations. Largely experiential, course provides students with an opportunity to develop their skills by participating in negotiations and integrating their experiences with the principles presented in the assigned readings and course discussions. Prereq: Enrollment in Fisher College of Business graduate programs. Not open to students with credit for 7240, 7241, or 7345.
