Tie Me Down

Rate this book
Maybe it’s just pregnancy hormones but I really want to lick him.

I've ended up in a huge mess... my ex-boyfriend Jimbo wasn’t the dark soul with a heart of gold I thought he was. He knocked me up and then knocked me about. And when he tells me that I can’t keep the baby, it’s time to get out of Seattle.

A fainting episode in a gas station in the Arizona desert leads me to Lawson. A real life cowboy who runs his own ranch, Lawson is easy on the eyes. Muscles... everywhere. Huge package. Those little diagonal indentations that make a big arrow straight to his... toolbox.

But I'm not safe... it seems that Jimbo is still looking for me. Is Lawson the one who can protect me? And more importantly, can he convince me that he’s the man to tie me down?

Tie Me Down is the first book in the Arizona Heat series. It can be read as a standalone. If you are looking for a steamy contemporary cowboy romance featuring insta-love, a little rope work and spanking, this novella is for you.

Stilted and a bit strange.

This short read (approximately 100 pages) has a good premise and a decent storyline, but the dialogue seemed a bit stilted to me. Like they were reading lines instead of conversation flowing smoothies like when two people are just talking. The story is about a girl named Alana who is escaping from an abusive criminal boyfriend who threatened to end her pregnancy if she didn’t.

Alana stops at a small gas station in rural Arizona and faints from a bit of heat stroke. A local rancher named Lawson sees it happen and takes her home with him. While this is a good setup there are a few things that bother me. Like I said, the dialogue is stilted and a bit choppy.

From the very start Lawson and Alana joke around with each other and both end up realizing how long it has been since they laughed like that. Though the joking didn’t seem funny at all to me. For example, they go to get maternity clothes for Alana and start joking about how dowdy the clothes are, saying one nightgown would make her look like Wendy from Peter Pan and another Grenoble one would look like Peter Pan, they just need to find one that looks like Captain Hook. Then she ends up throwing a pair of large maternity underwear at his face. I just didn’t think any of it sounded funny.

Then there was the fact that he is into some BDSM, and he starts fantasizing about spanking her. A few minutes later, she is fantasizing about the same thing. It just seemed odd to me that after being abused, she would fantasize about being spanked, and that they both have the same fantasy within minutes of each other seemed a bit odd. I thin it would have flowed more naturally if she didn’t think about it at all until they got hot and heavy and he gives her a playful swat.

Then two other scenes bothered me a bit. One was after they are intimate without protection they decide to go get tested. The whole thing came off as odd to me. Then another when she gets emotional and throws out some flowers, the discussion about what she did gets quite preachy as he starts suggesting that she may need a psychologist because of her relationship with her parents.

Other than these few things, the book was pretty good. A lot of different things happened and I did finish the book. So I would give it a 2.75 stars, rounded up to 3 out of 5 stars. The romance was insta-love and quite steamy. 🥵

Cowboy Baby!

“Tie Me Down” is a quick, fun, sizzling insta-lust/love romance with a twist… the heroine is five months pregnant and on the run. Fleeing a violent domestic abuse relationship, Alana’s escape ends at a gas station in the Arizona desert. Fainting from the heat, Lawson is driven to rescue the expectant mother, spiriting her away to the safety of Lawson’s family ranch, where things really heat up between the main characters. Professionally written and fast-paced, Alana is a quick witted, sympathetic character and Lawson is totally sweet with an edge of dominance. As the relationship intensifies, several enigmatic incidents occur at the ranch, eventually threatening the couple’s well-being. Will Lawson keep Alana safe or will Alana be compelled to move on?

I didn't like this book at all - the plot was so OTT, the h was written as quite stupid, can't think or make decisions and constantly 'wet' because of the H. She's a walking, talking 'victim' of her own poor decisions, yet doesn't learn, and once again relies on a man to 'save' her. Ugh! I found the plot salacious, and it's my last book by this author.

THE COUNTRY RANCHER AND THE CITY GIRL

Once again, Ms. Katie Douglas has entertained me with a wonderful story, and I loved the chemistry between Lawson and Alana. This is the first book in the Arizona Heat series, but it reads well as a stand-alone.

Alana has escaped her ex-con boyfriend, Jimbo, after he beat her up when she refused to get rid of his baby, she is carrying. She left Seattle in his car and is hoping to get to New Mexico. Stopping at a gas station in Arizona, she is stressed, tired, achy, dehydrated and passes out. She will be rescued by a local rancher, Lawson Dale, and taken to his home.

The plot will have Lawson taking care of Alana, and from their meeting, they clicked, and it doesn’t take long before they get down and dirty. When he discovers her predicament, that she has had no prenatal care and she is sporting bruises days after a beating, he insists on taking her to the hospital to be checked. Alana hasn’t had much of a happy life with distant parents, getting involved with an ex-con, and now she is pregnant and on the run—but Lawson seems to care genuinely and makes her feel special—needed—wanted—and he offers her a safe place to stay. How far is Lawson willing to go to keep Alana and her baby safe? Will she stay under his protection, learning what it is like to be cared for—or will she feel like she is in the way and needs to leave?

“It had all been so easy and natural—bantering, flirting, joking around together.”

The story includes some mid-BDSM, spankings, sex toys, power exchange, and explicit sex scenes. It also has some tense moments of danger that will play out.

Tie Me Down is the first book in the Arizona Heat series. Alana is on the run from her abusive ex when she stops for gas in Arizona and faints. Lawson is there and immediately takes action, bringing her to his ranch, wanting to protect Alana and her unborn baby. Their attraction is immediate, their connection building quickly, but can they keep each other safe from the dangers of her past?

This couple is so fun together, as they laugh, play, and joke through what life throws their way. But I also love their chemistry, both the sexy and the kinds that build their foundations to their future. I loved that Lawson was willing to do so much for a stranger, trying to master pregnancy cravings and using his dominance to keep Alana safe and protected. Alana was in a bad situation, but tried to do as much as she could for the safety of her baby. I loved that she never wanted to be a burden, loved some of her internal and emotional hiccups, but loved that Lawson could fulfill her needs. One aspect of this book that I loved was that Ms. Douglas wasn’t afraid to cover more sensitive topics, topics that really effected both Lawson and Alana, and they’re real topics that many readers might have experienced. I really enjoyed reading this book! It was sweet, made me giggle, fast paced, steamy, with a few elements of domestic discipline, and a whole lot of love! I’m so excited to see where this series is going to go next!

4 Stars!

Katie Douglas is a brand spanking new author for me and what a sweet, easy, steamy book this was. Tie Me Down was a fast read that had me glued to the pages and racing to the end to see how everything was going to play out.

From the moment they see each other at that gas station, they have no idea everything is about to change. She's on the run, desperate for safety, and very pregnant with a nasty ex to boot. He's a single, dominant cowboy running a ranch with his brothers after suffering a loss.

Alana needs him. Lawson wants her. Together they are undeniable and explosive, in and out of the sheets but unfortunately the past she tried to leave behind is creeping into the future she's building and this time Alana will look to Lawson to save her.

A instant connection. An undeniable bond. A journey that will keep you turning the pages.... It might be quick and completely unexpected but for them it's quickly becoming everything.

Safe. Sweet. Sexy. Suspenseful. It's got the big 4 s's in the best kind of ways.

I recommend this easy, sweet read.

A great combination of sweet and sexy, Tie Me Down really had me hooked at the start. I went back and forth a lot on my feelings with this one. I loved the immediate connection Lawson and Alana had. From the second he finds her the sweetness just pours off the pages right along with the sparks that are flying between them. Based on that alone Lawson is definitely a king of swoon.
But as sweet as they were their story felt so rushed. Everything was moving at lightening speed right from the get go and things I really wanted to know more about were pretty glossed over at the pace that was set. I never really got to have that feeling of anticipation or excitement because of that and the more light BDSM aspect of their relationship seemed more out of left field than a true part of their story with so little leading up to it and no explanation at all behind it.
Overall though the sweetness, the steam and the humor were off the charts and this book really is a pretty fun escape for a quick read.

"...you’re to say your safeword, red, and this stops."

Red...RED...R E D!
Did not enjoy the choppy and immature flow of this book. At 8% I stopped to read reviews because I couldn't believe it had an almost 4-star rating. Second-guessing myself as to my judgement as no one hated this book. I returned to reading it, all the while questioning this storyline, insta-love between a cowboy and pregnant women who also had insta-sex and insta-spanking and insta-bad taste. Made it up to 69%, where sexual fun spanking turned to spanking punishment. DNF. And no more reads by this author.

Cheers

I have never been abused so I can not say what I would do in that situation. But I find it a little hard to believe that you would leave your highly abusive boyfriend and find yourself in bed with the first guy that shows you kindness. So that was one star down.
The second star was taken off because of how this story ended. I feel it ended way to fast. Things were going so good until the ex shows up and does a couple of stupid things and then all hell breaks loose, which I thought was stupid.

Now the good things. I enjoyed Alana and Lawson. They do have a wonderful relationship and I liked how it develops. Lawson is a great male and does take wonderful care of Alana and these two are wonderfully hot in the sack.

I will say that even though I gave this a 3 star I will continue to read this Arizona Heat series.

This is a new author to me and I am excited to start the series. And what a way to start off the series!! On the run from her ex-boyfriend who beat her and her unborn baby Alana finally ends up passing out at a gas station in Arizona only to be rescued by a sexy cowboy with a thing for damsels in distress. Lawson and his brother own a ranch in a small town. While helping Alana with getting her to a doctor and back on her feet there is an instant connection between the two of them. Alana doesn’t trust easily because she has been burned before but Lawson worms his way into her heart. Unexplained things start to happen on the ranch and Alana fears that her ex-boyfriend has found her. Will Lawson be able to protect her and her unborn baby from the danger that is stalking them? I look forward to continuing this series!! I recommend this book!

Alana is pregnant and on the run from her abusive boyfriend…
Alana easy running for her own safety and sanity also she was running for the precious baby she carried inside her womb, her ex-boyfriend Jimbo had decided to kill the baby by beating her black and value, but no more now she was responsible for another life and nothing and no one would ever hurt them again.
Lawson watches the woman at the petrol station, she is quite pregnant and is also she is suddenly dropping like a stone, he picks her up and then he takes her back home, there is an almost immediate connection between them and all he knows is that he has to help her.
Alana tells Lawson her story expecting that he would be disgusted with her however as they spend time together, he soon realised that this woman in such a short time has stolen his heart and Alana knows that both her and her baby will be safe and protected whilst she is under his roof.
However, what neither expected was that they had a connection, a sexual chemistry that burned so bright and he knows she is one in a million and she knows that Lawson’s dominant personality grounds her and bring her pleasure she has never known and she knows that she never wants to loser this amazing man.
However, her Boyfriend is on her tail and he doesn’t like to lose what he considers he owns, will Lawson be able to protect her?

For the most part I enjoyed this read. It was a really quick read that I got through in less than an evening.

Lawson was a sweetheart - hardworking, considerate and, lets face it, hot as the Arizona sun, he was a man who wanted to fix things for people and protect those he cared about.

Alana was in self-preservation mode literally running for her life - following some less than perfect for her life choices - when she first encountered a sexy cowboy at an Arizona gas station, but even though he was a stranger, Lawson made her feel safe for the first time in who knows how long.

This pair sparked. Their attraction was pretty much instant and I like that the fact Alana was expecting didn't put our leading man off. I enjoyed meeting Lawson's brothers and am looking forward to their own books.

My biggest issue with the story was the speed of everything. The main events all took place in less than two weeks and while it made for entertaining reading, some back story for the leading characters or some more build up of their relationship would have made this a more substantial read.

All of that said, I will be checking out the rest of the Arizona Heat series from Katie Douglas

I'm giving Tie Me Down 3*

Tie Me Down by Katie Douglas is a story about finding that one. That one that will do anything for you and will help you take on that burden and not balk at how heavy it is.

Alana is on the run from her abusive ex-boyfriend when she faints in a gas station in the middle of Arizona. Lawson just happens to be there when she faints and, southern gentleman that he is takes her in and gives her a room to stay. His ranch hand and brother are out of town for the weekend so he knows there will be time for Alana to adjust.

Being 4 months pregnant Alana is trying to survive. The last thing she thinks will ever happen is that a gentleman will come along and sweep her off her feet. Trust is a hard thing for her. She trusted her ex and look where it got her.

This is a really fast, novella. Most of the story was just over the weekend at Lawson’s when his ranch hand and brother are out of town. I wanna say the last couple of chapters are the rest of that same month and then, BAM!, they were engaged. It was hard for me to imagine a pregnant woman, four months along, jumping into a relationship that fast. But I do hope there are men out there that would step in as Lawson did for Alana.

There was quite a lot to like about this book. I liked the story idea. I found the pregnant, on the run heroine and the protective, cowboy hero appealing. I did not like the length of this book. I thought that these characters and their romance deserved time to grow realistically. I did not go into reading this as an insta-lust/love story and considering the subject matter; I found it hard to believe Alana would be so open and trusting considering what she has been through and the very small amount of time that has passed. She has been focused on surviving not actively working on recovering from the abuse. I will admit that Lawson was a totally, swoon worthy hero but I was not a fan of how I felt this down played the long lasting effects incurred by these situations. Still, setting that to the side, you could easily feel the attraction and chemistry between these two. Their interactions were spicy and a bit kinky. I am interested in reading the upcoming books that feature Lawson's brothers. This one though was just OK. I wanted it to be better and I honestly think it could have been, its potential just wasn't nurtured enough. This is my frank, freely posted review.

Alana was living with her boyfriend, and ex-con, who she thought she could change. Turned out he didn't want change, he was happy with the type of life he'd always lived. And he didn't want the baby she was carrying, that's why he beat her with the intentions of her miscarrying. That's why she ran from Seattle, Washington to Snake Eye, Arizona. She was on her way to New Mexico when she stopped for gas but and was so over taken by past events, emotions, and heat she passed out right there in the parking lot. That's where Lawson had come in contact with her. He immediately picked her up, put her in his truck to cool her off and make sure she was alright. The instant attractions started there and ran rampant throughout the story. In Katie Douglas style, we have quick, easy read with a storyline that flows with characters having personalities and quirks that are just relatable to every day life. Of course, the good guy wins and we get our happily every after but not before we get the juicy bits of BDSM, and the trepidation of a past coming forward and a bad guy getting thwarted. I'm excited for Book 2, Make Me Stay to come out next.

This is a sweet and loving story with a lot of spicy added in. I love Katie Douglas' stories because they are just such nice reads that they tend to give my mood a nice little boost and my day some nice spice.

Alana is on the run from her jerk ex, Jimbo. She's run from Seattle and is now in AZ, where she's passed out in the heat at a gas station, right in front of a Cowboy in Shining Armor, Lawson. He spirits her home and gives her a safe place to stay. But there's more between them than just being safe.

I really love Lawson. He's really such a good man. He doesn't have any ulterior motives when he decides to help Alana. He just does it because that's what you do. He does become Alana's rock and helps her by giving her a safe place to find herself, but I think that he doesn't rescue her and find her as much as he lets her rescue herself and find herself. He's the safe place she can go to while she's doing that. I really like that. I think that they are really are perfect for each other.

Tie Me Down is the first book in the Arizona Heat series, but it reads well as a stand-alone. I loved the chemistry between Lawson and Alana and enjoyed getting to know them. Alana is on the run from her abusive ex in her clunker of a car. She stops for gas is tired, dehydrated, stressed and passes out. Enter! Lawson Dale and his brother Jake, local ranchers who see the young pregnant Alana fall to the ground and go to help her. Lawson is amazing and the chemistry between them is electric. The characters are well written and each story in the series are carefully developed and creatively written. I would recommend reading the series. Each story is a stand alone and the characters do slide in and out of each story which adds to the enjoyment when you read each story.
The stories are filled with adventure, danger, suspense, Hot, Sexy Alpha men, feisty women, elements of BDSM, exciting, steamy sex scenes, fast paced and romance. Thank you, Katie Douglas

I did not like or enjoy this book and I could not finish it.

the idea behind the story had potential but the actual writing was a let down.

the male character was ok and somewhat likeable but he instantly and over the top decided to save and care for a stranger from the second he met her. If you find a pregnant women passed out you take her to a hospital you don't her home and instantly start a life together.

the female character continually got worse and was in no way likeable a victim of her own poor choices staying with a guy who treat her like crap and beat on her and pimped her out to his friends and she just stuck around for it for quiet some time with the intention to save him. wtf?

the chemistry between the couple was way over the top and instead of sexy it came off as trashy and hard to read.

I have no idea how it finished I could not finish it.

Alana is on pregnant, and on the run, when Lawson literally finds her flat on her face at a gas station, as she's fainted from the heat. He decides to take her to his ranch, and the rest is history as they say. See, he's a good guy, and once he hears her story, he can't help but take care of her, but it ends up being more, as they have an instant connection, because her submissiveness calls to his dominant spirit. It turns to some super sexy times that really heats that air conditioned ranch house of his up, but there's still her insane ex out there who won't let her go. So yeah, there's a twist or two that made sure that I could drop an f-bomb or two. And the small town charm of the men had me ready to pack my bags to catch me one with some rope. Anyway, that's enough out of me, so just read it for yourselves as I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Katie Douglas is an author I'm definitely going to keep my eye on!

Tie Me Down was the perfect afternoon read. I quickly fell in love with Alana and Lawson. Both reminded me of people I've crossed paths with at some point in my life and their story is one that held lots of emotion. Alana was on the run from an abusive boyfriend. Alone, short on cash, and pregnant, she stumbles into the care of Lawson. Lawson, such a hottie, is the kind of guy you'd want your daughter to hook up with. The connection he shared with Alana made the story so addicting.

Through the twists and turns, I found the author's style of writing fun, super spicy, and just what I needed to put a smile on my face. It's a cute story that I think lots of readers will enjoy. Highly recommend if you're in the mood for a quick romantic tale that will make you appreciate falling in love.

Pregancy and this Author really agree with each other. I thought katies books were great but she certainly has taken this book to another new level for he, its exceptional. The chemistry between both these two characters was very hot and i have to say very fast paced... yum. I would thoughly recommend this book to anyone that loves hot , sexy chemistry between to lovely people.

Pregant Alana has escaped from her boyfriend, just took his car and went leaving most of her gear behind. She stopped at a Petrol station, using the last of her money , wanting to get a bottle of water, she trips and falls. Lawson picks her up and takes her back to his ranch, but he also notices that she is pregant. They are both so very attracted to each other and the chemistry is hot and sexy.
Blindfolds, butt plugs and spankings are on the list, what more can a girl want, that is until may her ex turns up.

Alana is on the run from her ex -boyfriend who tries to kill her when she told him she would get rid of their baby. She passes out at a gas station and meets Lawson. Lawson is intrigues by Alana and worried because she looks exhausted and scared. So he just takes her home to make sure she rests. There's something about Lawson that makes her feel safe and she doesn't want to leave. However she doesn't know if she managed to get safely away from her ex. When Alana's troubles surface in town what will Lawson do? Can they be together with how they met?

This is a great story that will captivate you from beginning to end. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

The start of a great new series

This is the start of a great new series by Katie Douglas.

This was a book that was hard to put down and for a short book, it packed a great story, with characters you wanted to know better, in a place you wanted to see. There are a few steamy bits and moments that make you grin.

The only disappointment was the shortness of the book, I simply wanted more and I look forward to more in the series

Small spoiler
Alana is pregnant and running from her ex-boyfriend desperate to keep her baby safe. Exhausted she collapsed at a gas station where she is swept up by Lawson, a local rancher who was at the gas station.
Lawson offers safety, security and steamy moments.....

I received a free copy of this book from the author...but I will probably buy this book ‘cos I loved it and chose to support the author

Alana was running from her no good ex. He didn’t want her or their baby but she wasn’t going to take any chances. She was going to run. But she didn’t get too far with junker of a car. Lawson and his brother Jake were just in town to get some gas before heading back to their ranch. When they saw a young pregnant woman fall to the ground they went to help.

Lawson is such a sweetie. He went right in to take care of Alana. They both had an attraction and the bonus was that Alana was a bit of a sub. I love that they sort of tried to hold of the attraction they felt but Alana pushed and he went for it. These two were going to be hot and steamy from the start. These two are so much fun. I love that Lawson is so kinky. The whole harness thing was really interesting. That will make you keep your mind on nothing but “THAT.”

A quick read with a lot of steam. Pregnant and running, Alana is trying to make it as far away from her ex as she can. When she pulls into a gas station, she faints and Lawson is there to help her. He and his brother take her to his ranch where he takes care of her. He makes sure that she sees a doctor and has a safe place to stay.
The book takes place in the span of a week, but their chemistry and attraction can't be denied. As things progress quickly for them, her past finds her present and Lawson has to try to protect Alana and her unborn baby. I liked how he was domineering in the bedroom, yet they talked everything through before final decisions were made.
Katie is a new author to me, but I can't wait to see what happens to the rest of the men in the series. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.

Alana is pregnant and running away from her abusive ex-boyfriend. During a stop a gas station in Arizona she faints and there she meets the handsome and helpful Lawson. What begins as an unplanned rest stop ends with Lawson taking her in and their chemistry taking off.

This was a fun quick read by Katie Douglas. I love insta-lust stories and Lawson and Alana had it in spades. Their chemistry practically made my kindle give off sparks or maybe it was their red-hot passion from the very start. I enjoyed the story, but I just wish everything hadn’t been such a whirlwind. The story moves pretty quickly and I would have liked to see a bit more build up between them. 3.5 Stars.

If you’re in the mood for a very quick, super steamy, insta-lust romance Tie Me Down is the book for you.

This is a cute and sexy insta-love story with one big difference. Alana is fleeing her ex-con boyfriend she left with nothing and is 5 months pregnant with his baby. When she finally runs out of steam she quite literally falls into Lawson's hands. He decides to take her to his ranch and thats when things get interesting. Lawson wants her despite her condition and Alana although she has been through so much finds herself falling for him to. They are such a cute couple they get along so well in and out of the bedroom. However there may be something threatening their newfound happiness can they overcome their problems together?
