Our aim is to make an environmentally sustainable built environment a reality. We work to apply circular and sufficiency principles at building and product level to make more efficient use of resources, decarbonising the EU building stock. In addition, we push for construction products to be made from low-carbon, sustainable and non-toxic materials, at the same time ensuring they are easy to repair and reuse. Finally, we strive for standards to strongly support EU climate targets, and help deliver a more sustainable built environment.
Construction Product Standards using high-impact resources such as steel, cement and concrete, see our work on Energy Intensive Industries here.
Construction products are one of the most significant contributors to environmental damage with an annual carbon footprint of 250 million tonnes in the EU. This is equivalent to the electricity use of nearly 500 million homes in a single year. Beyond emissions, construction products account for half of the EU's total material consumption and contribute to about one-third of the bloc's annual waste output.
We are looking for a highly motivated Programme Manager to join our Buildings and Industry team and drive our high-impact work towards a sustainable and circular built environment.
