Fluke My Life #3

Tossed Into Love

Rate this book
Can the best of enemies become the hottest of lovers? New York Times bestselling author Aurora Rose Reynolds proves that opposites can be compatible—and twice as combustible…

Libby Reed is over it. Or that’s what she tells herself. She’s lusted after one of New York’s bravest for years, but firefighter Antonio Moretti has doused her interest for the last time. As much as she wants the arrogant jerk (in a bad, bad way), they can’t even be in the same room without setting each other off…which might be a problem now that she’s volunteered to help out in his family’s restaurant.

Antonio’s been burned before. Now he knows better than to trust a pretty face and follow another pair of long, beautiful legs into heartbreak. But while Libby might rub him the wrong way, he can’t deny the heat between them. And it only burns hotter when she steps up in his time of need. The closer they get, the more he realizes he may have misjudged her. Then again, he doesn’t know the secret Libby’s keeping that could send their relationship up in flames before it’s even begun.

Tossed Into Love brings us to the third Reed sister, Libby. She's been a constant presence in this series so I couldn't wait to see her get her HEA. Her own story plays a little parallel to the previous book so you see some of her sisters, but for the most part this book was her own and it kind of moved away from Reed family craziness that was featured in the prior books. Which I actually liked since I felt like it kept the series from being too repetitive throughout the books.

Her love interest is Antonio, a man with a huge chip on his shoulder from a past relationship gone bad, causing him to push Libby away. He judged her easily and no matter how much she tried to show him that she was different he wouldn't see it. I thought the angst of their back and forth added a lot of sexual tension to the story and where I would usually be a little annoyed that the hero was being so blinded by the past in this case I liked it. I do think Antonio should have begged for forgiveness a little more, but even without that I was still really happy when his character moved on from the pain holding him back and we got to see the sweet side to him.

I just thought Antonio and Libby worked really well together and they were one of those romance book couples that you wish you knew in real life. Their connection was adorable and added such a light and fun feeling to the story. The angst that was brought into the story wasn't my favorite, just because the situation that happened isn't something I'm a fan of, but in the end it didn't affect how much I liked the book because Antonio and Libby definitely made up for that scene.

Overall, this is certainly a book I would recommend if you're looking for a cute story. I would say you should read at least the previous book before this one just to avoid spoilers from those characters.

I went into this one not expecting to like it much. I read a few reviews before diving in, and many of them had issues with Antonio being an ass. And he was a HUGE fucking asshole. To be honest, had I been Libby I would have taken that baseball bat he had shoved up his rear end for THREE YEARS and beaten him with it. Then I would have gone out and found me a non whiny douche to have hot sweaty monkey sex with. Walter would have done nicely. Alas, that isn't the direction the author went in.

description

That said, I didn't hate it either. I could have done without Libby being a virgin, because HELLO it is 2018 and women are allowed to have sex for crying out loud. Not to mention, it was a little pathetic on her part to be saving her virginity for a guy who did nothing but treat her like a piece of shit for three solid years all because he overheard her talking about wanting a designer purse? Oy vey... Also, there were WAY too many "cutes." But, all in all, it wasn't as bad as I was expecting, and the epilogues were sweet.

I am a big fan of this author, so I have read and enjoyed each book in the "Fluke My Life" series. I found, that for me, each book was a bit better than the previous one, which means that this one, was my favorite out of the three.

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor favourite gif

These books are about three sisters finding love, and it's finally time for Libby's story...the youngest sister. Libby is one of the reasons, I liked this book most out of the three. She was smart,  mature, hardworking and compassionate and even though, at one point, she took the blame for something that wasn't her fault...she was no doormat. I think she was great.

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor let's be friends gif

That said, Antonio was nothing to sneeze about either.... Sure he was a bit of an ass in the beginning, but I think we have long ago established, that I love those assholes, who redeem themselves....and he did... He was also sexy as hell :P

All the books in this series are fun, hot and low on angst. I highly recommend these books, if you are in the mood for something uncomplicated, sweet and sexy ;)

I'm happy to hear this isn't the end of this series! While these two main characters initially rubbed me the wrong way, I've grown kinda fond of the family!

HERO~ Antonio - while he had the potential to be a classic ARR hero for me, he sadly let me down by painting Libby in the same light as his gold digging ex. I don't like when a heroine is compared to an ex in a story and she was a lot. I don't mind a hero being a jerk to some extent (unless he is doing it by being with OW)

HEROINE~ Libby was a good girl. She was loyal to her family and friends and was there when they needed her. I felt bad for her because while she was crushing on Antonio, he was continually rude and sarcastic to her.

SEXUAL HISTORY~ Libby was a virgin and Antonio was not.

OM/OW DRAMA ~

STEAM there was some steamy parts later in the story

VIOLENCE no violence of any nature

SECONDARY CHARACTERSgreat seeing the gang from book 1 and 2.

SAFETY Neither slept with anyone else after meeting but Libby dated.

ENDING~ ARR always delivers in the epilogue department (even in a series- it can be done) and this was no exception. A great look into their future.

Antonio was a jerk and an arrogant ass. He is a firefighter. He hates his father’s pizzeria. But when his father has a heart attack, he has to step in. Libby is their family friend. She even volunteers to help him. But he is jerk towards her.

Libby : I so hate him..but he is so hot...but I want to kill him..but he is so hot...he is such a jerk....does he love me

So you get the story?

Sorry but not for me.

Libby Reed has lived her entire life in New York, and grew up in Long Island the youngest of three sisters. She went to cosmetology school, and now works at a top salon on Madison Avenue doing makeup and hair. When she first moved to the city the one place that she always felt at home was Tony's Pizzeria. The married couple that owned it were two of the sweetest people she'd ever met. They treated her like family, so when Tony has a heart attack, Libby wants to help any way she can. They have one son Antonio Moretti who is a firefighter and has never been interested in running the family pizzeria. He's currently trying to keep the pizzeria going while his dad's out of commission.

Libby rearranges her hours at the salon to help out at the Moretti's restaurant a few hours in the evenings. She's forever lusted over their gorgeous, Italian son. She's had a crush on him for the past three years, but for some reason he's never been nice to her. She can't figure out why he dislikes her so much. It's clear he isn't happy about having to work with her, and they clash at every turn.

Antonio grows closer to Libby the longer they work together. He was burned by a past relationship, and soon realizes as a result he misjudged Libby. She really steps up to help his family, and shows her kind heart. He made assumptions about her that were wrong. Now he must prove to her he's not the jerk he's behaved like in the past. He has his work cut out for him, but hopes to win her heart.

This was a fantastic enemies to lovers romance! It's a slow burn, but so damn hot when they finally come together. I really love this whole series, and this book was just as wonderful as the others. I really adored this couple and this beautiful love story!

This was incredibly sweet and my favorite of the series. It's funny because I was nervous starting this book. We knew from book 2 that Antonio wasn't so nice to Libby and I was unsure about their beginning. Normally I would gush all over the hero of the story but this time it was Libby who made me love this story.

Libby is such a sweet and like-able heroine. I love the reason why she hated romance movies. I love that she was a girly girl and yet was such a hard worker. She didn't complain. She wasn't whiny. She was just all around sweet, even when she had reason not to be.

I would love to gush about Antonio but I was giving him the stink eye for half of this book. I still liked him though. I really liked the message about assumptions and to never judge the future based off the past. I loved the author put that in the book!

The epilogues were the best! Even Miss Ina had one. I think it's safe to say that I loved this and highly recommend to those who want a low angst fun read.

Rating 3.5

This was sweet, sexy and soooo much better than book 1, Running Into Love (the only other book I’ve read from this series.) Glad I didn’t knock this one before trying it.

Libby has had a crush on Antonio for years (2+ I think) but Antonio – for reasons unknown to the h – has always ignored her and goes out of his way to antagonize her. When his father, who is like a second father to Libby, falls ill and his pizzeria is in jeopardy, Libby doesn’t hesitate to pitch in and help out, even if it means putting up with a grumpy Antonio.

Antonio has always been attracted to Libby but of course he’s been burned before by a materialistic woman looking for higher social standing. He takes a snippet of conversation he overheard as iron proof that Libby is cut from the same cloth and from that day forward has pushed her away. Being around Libby day in and day at the restaurant, finally shows Antonio that his initial assumptions about Libby were way off the mark.

There is still an over use of the word babe and baby and Libby’s mom is still crazy - and not in a good way!- but not as over the top as in book #1. The chemistry between Antonio and Libby is also a lot hotter and more intense then the couple in book 1, imo. I loved the special attention Antonio put into their dates and the sexual tension that built between them before they went all the way. It was hard to hate Antonio after seeing him literally be the white knight to her princess.

The drama did feel drawn out and was a bit clichéd so you already knew where it was leading and made the big reveal a bit antI-climatic. Luckily the fallout and making up follows pretty fast. Being that I’m a sucker for HEA and epilogues and babies, I’m just gonna say that the ending to this was freakin adorable and I loved it so I'm adding a .5 star for that alone :)

Favorite Line:
“He’s had his heart broken,” I tell him, not even sure why that matters exactly. It’s the only defense I have.

“Did you break his heart?”

“Well . . . no.”

“Then he’s just an idiot. You’re not the one who hurt him. You’re Libby. Sweet, beautiful Libby. He’s a dick for treating you like crap.”

Wise words. . . . Palo definitely should have come out more, he was a great character. And these words should be seen more in this genre than they ever do.

Would I recommend? Yes. I liked it.

“And of course I forgive you. It’s my job to take you back even when I shouldn’t.”

Repeat that approximately 76 times and you’ve got the jist of the story. This had the potential to be pretty great but I hated the fact Libby never seemed to know her worth. Antonio wasn’t a complete jerk, exactly, but he came pretty damn close.

I absolutely ADORE this series and have was anxiously waiting for the last of these hilariously awesome sisters to fall in love, and Antonio... Italian descent, dark, broody, handsome, need I more?! Well, he ended up been one tough cookie. His prejudice and pride truly let him not see what was right in from of him and for many, MANY months, he still let his past interfere in his judgement of Libby. And Libby, she was just AHMAZING!!! I loved her!
I wish she'd beaten some sense into him, or at least drive him mad with trying (key word here, lol, it's a love story after all!) to move on, but she's just too loyal and enchanted for that, and her damn heart ordered otherwise. I myself felt it was far too much, his pushing away - it was enough all those years they have known each other ad we don't witness in the book - but even in the present, on page, he still pushes and is hurtful to her, until he finally pulls his head out of his ass, and still has a tantrum almost by the end.
The only thing that saved him was how loyal and secretly obsessed he was to her, even not wanting to admit he was head over heels, lol.
Outside of the pushing away, there were plenty of sexy, loving and funny moments - characteristic of this spectacular series - that showed us just how fantastic Ms. Reynolds is in her story telling. Even more it was brilliant to get to see all the precious couples, and all the sister bond! What a feel good, sexy and funny this Fluke My Life series is. Can't wait for Levi's brother story (dying to see him get his HEA since book one!) in Drawn Into Love!!!! <3 <3 <3

h to H: "I hate romance movies. They are always so cliché. Guy and girl meet, guy is a jerk, girl is an idiot for him even when he’s a jerk. Still, the girl always falls in love with him, forgetting that he was a jerk to begin with, and in the end that comes back to bite her in the ass when he’s an even bigger jerk. She cries usually a lot. He realizes at some point what he lost and then finally he begs her for forgiveness. Always—but always—she takes him back, even when she shouldn’t."

LOL...this is the plot to every ARR book!

The h says this to the H at the end: "And of course I forgive you. It’s my job to take you back even when I shouldn’t."

I honestly wish that the author was self-aware enough to realise that all her books are cliches and maybe change things up a bit (like maybe having a heroine who is not a doormat!)

Sigh, this is an intensely painful review to write

Spoilers,2.5* rounded up

I love this author and own every book she's ever published, in fact I preorder each one and usually can't wait to start them, this one was no exception unfortunately tossed did not live up to my expectations.
Antonio admits he didn't like Libby because he assumed she was materialistic like his ex who did a number on him,as such he was a total jerk to her for the length of time they've known each other
Libby has had a crush on him that entire time, as they start working together in the pizzeria he realises she's not what he thought she was.
Antonio almost won me over simply because he had been celibate since meeting Libby, he admitted he was wrong about her,he demonstrated some sweetness and I've got a weakness for Alpha males BUT the buildup to the big fall out over the pizzeria was coming throughout the book and I found his reaction completely foolish and OTT as she really did try to tell him a couple of times and her reason for not telling him from the very beginning was ridiculous. As such the entire issue was just a cheap plot point to create a touch of angst.
Though this book had some classic ARR goodness in the alpha speak, the cute and sweet virgin h, cameos by previous beloved characters and a sweet epilogue this one just didn't deliver as I've come to expect from ARR.

One thing is for sure, Aurora Rose Reynolds is my go to author for perfect pink fairytales. 💕

" You're a girl who likes the color pink, heels, makeup, and designer clothes. A girl who wants to fall in love with your very own Prince Charming. You're the definition of a princess."

And she is a Princess. She's one of the sweetest heroines ever. She's kind, beautiful, cute, hard working, considerate and total selfless. He's a jerk firefighter, uber alpha, who had his heart broken by his ex. He's also an ass for making assumptions about Libby. But he can also be very sweet and protective.
This is one of the rare occasions when I love the heroine so much more than the hero.

Antonio's parents own a pizzeria and he's father just had a heart attack. Loving Libby steps in to help with the shop. The plot thickens when our MCs start working together side by side and especially when Antonio hears that Libby is going on a date with some guy.

The storyline is simple, but ARR has a way of pulling you in, making you feel "part of the family". Even though it isn't a exciting or thrilling book, I couldn't put it down, so I went to sleep at 5am. That's how much I loved it. If you're in the mood for something sweet, a fairy tale, pick this one.

"Whether you run into it, stumble into it, or get tossed into it, love has a way of finding you."

Sorry, but it wasn't for me.
The hero was a huge asshole with heroine, everyone around including heroine thought he hates her for something serious, but guess what? He hates her for 3years, because she wanted some big brand bag!!! Is he for real?????
His ex was some bitch, he cheated on him and wanted more money and social position... But our heroine didn't make something wrong, she was hardworking person.

And our heroine, she had a crash on this asshole for years, and she was saving her V for him!!! What!!????

Only 3stars because they both were celibate during all that time

DNF at 40%. This girl was just too ‘special’ for my liking and the guy was too big of an asshole. I think the 26 year old virgin in modern New York City just doesn’t work for me. And she just buys a pizza place without looking over the financials and building a business plan? Because she used to be a waitress in a pizza parlour in high school? Who is telling her this is a good investment? Ugh. I can’t anymore.

* Update: I forgot I read this one already and bought it now and read again and nothing seemed familiar.. *

I adore Aurora Rose Reynolds! Her alpha men are always just what I need. I know for some it may be just a tid bit to much or to soon. But for me? Perfect!

I love the nickname babe, I know it's very common and all but not here in Belgium. So every time I hear/read it I'm melting! I also adore self made nicknames, my boyfriend (10 years) has gotten quite a few for me too. It always is more special and sweet!

The only down point is if your on a diet, I'm craving pizza right now!!

Love Antonio and Libby their start was "rocky" but it was quite sweet too. I love enemies to lovers! Even though I would never see me with an enemy.. I'm not that forgiving..

Libby has had a crush on Antonio for years but he’s shown her nothing but how much of a jerk he can be. She loves his parents as well as the pizzeria they run and when his father’s health takes a turn, she steps in to help where she can. Unfortunately, it puts her in direct line of Antonio’s scowly, grouchy ways and his even jerkier behavior.

Antonio resents the restaurant that consumed his and his parents’ lives, slowly draining his father’s health. However, as he is forced to pick up the slack until it can be sold, he finds himself realizing that the girl he thought was self-indulgent and high maintenance is anything but. Working side by side with her he learns that Libby is sweet and gentle, price conscious and loyal. Everything he had assumed she was not. Now, his biggest task is not keeping the pizzeria running as he works a full time job, but convincing Libby to forgive him for his previous behaviors and earning her smiles for himself.

This was such a great sit-back-and-relax romance. With an awesome alpha hero and a truly sweet and generous heroine, I couldn’t have been happier with this book. It checks all my boxes for a comfort read and I loved every moment of it. Even when Antonio acted like a jerk.

The final conflict between these two might aggravate some readers but I enjoyed it because I enjoyed watching this couple come together. I loved how Antonio’s eyes were opened to the true Libby once he gave her a chance as well as Libby’s struggle to trust that what was taking place between them was real.

This was a fast paced, easy to read, low angst story with a bit of an enemies to lovers feel to it. The secondary characters were perfect and I loved Ms. Ina even more than I had in the previous books. She was such a firecracker. The heat level came on slowly and didn’t strike until well after the 50% mark but once Antonio and Libby yielded to their desires the pages erupted with flames. And to top all the goodness that is this story, it has one heck of an epilogue that expands years into the future. That my friends is how to end a comfort read!

What's better than reading your most anticipated read from your all time favorite author?? Getting to buddy read this amazing ARC with two of my fave book bloggers (@kssecretbooks & @brieburg_ccbh) ❤️

We spent more time raving about this book then we did reading it. Our discussion lasted days and it just added an extra element to the reading process.

We're obsessed with ARR so it came at no surprise that we loved this book. We found Antonio reminded us a lil of the alpha males in her Until Series which is our favorite series of hers to date. We couldnt wait for Antonio to snap with all the sexual tension between him and libby and when he snapped it was everything we dreamed of.

One thing that we all agreed on was that we were left a lil disappointed with the relationship between the sisters. They were so dang close in the first two books and it felt like they were distant in this one. We wanted them to be as thick as thieves when it came to TIL but I guess they had their own lives to live 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Also, be warned that this book will give you a massive craving for pizza. Im not even the biggest fan of Pizza but I found myself even dreaming about the deliciously cheesy pie that I just had to have Immediately!

We were excited for the epilogue cause ARR always delivers an epilogue that will end the story just right and will make you swoon even harder. This epilogue was even better than I expected! Miss Ina and the kids... freaking Priceless!

On a side note, I want to be just like Miss Ina when I grow up 😍🙋🏻

I also wanted to take the time to thank ARR for feeding my soul with her words. And to my two babes for making this buddy read so dang entertaining ❤️

I love this series. I was able to get an ARC of the first one and have been in love since. Now that the series has come to an end, i'm not sure what to feel. I've become attached to these sisters!
As much of a pain in the butt Antonio was, I really did love him. I wish we would have had more chapters from his POV though.
Libby was a sweet, hardworking, but take no crap kinda gal. I like that in a heroine.
I hope ARR decides to write another book about these sisters. Giving us a peek/update into their lives.

eARC provided by the publisher in exchange for my honest review

Tossed Into Love is the third book of the Fluke My Life series. I have not read the first two books in the series, but I figured I would give this a try anyway. I had some issues in the beginning because most of plot and relationship between the two main characters was set up in the previous books, so I took that into consideration when writing this review and giving a rating.

I didn't understand the attraction between Antonio and Libby. I felt like it was insta-lovey (but it was noted that both characters had interactions earlier in the series), and it was very confusing. Antonio hated her, but then didn't? And Libby couldn't make up her mind if he hated her or liked her, and whether he was being a jerk or being sweet. I wasn't able to connect with either character or root for their relationship at all because I wasn't sure if there even was a relationship I should have been rooting for. It was way too hot and cold for my taste.

Also, Miss Ina. I felt like she detracted a lot from the story, and really didn't understand why she felt like she needed to help Libby "keep her virtue intact". Is she just a cranky old woman who thinks the world still operates like it did in 1800s? Who knows.

The best part of the book for me was Pool. Cats and kittens win everytime.

Overall, not my favorite read, mostly because I was confused for half of the book on why Libby was so wishy washy on whether or not she liked Antonio because he was a jerk/he wasn't a jerk...and so on and so forth. I didn't feel like there was a point to the relationship because I never saw any connection past the physical. They fell in love because....why? If Libby and Antonio had more of a friendship to begin with and less of a "does he hate me does he love me" theme going on, this would have been a much more solid story and the relationship between the two would have been something to cheer for.

Y'all. This book....
I am so in love with this series and this was a fabulous addition to it.
It's fun and flirty and easy to read. It's everything you could want in a summer (or weekend) read!

You get a fun and easy read with all the qualities that we've come to know from ARR novels. And how can I forget those ALPHAS?!
Antonio... alpha. FIREMAN. Drop dead sexy.

I received this book for free from Publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Libby Reed has been crushing on Antonio Moretti for years. She refuses to continue. He’s made it very clear that he doesn’t like her, but she can’t help lusting over him. However, it’s hard to keep a lid on her feelings when she’s having to work in close proximity with him in his family’s restaurant. Especially when he starts acting strangely…nice. Antonio doesn’t like women like Libby. No matter how much he fantasises about her, he knows they just want one thing; money. However, as they work together closely in the restaurant he realises he’s made a massive misjudgement and the woman who he thought was nothing that he ever wanted, is exactly the woman he’s always needed.

Sometimes all you need to make yourself feel better is a dose of Aurora Rose Reynolds. Put down the painkillers and pick up one of her romances. Tossed into Love was exactly what I needed after having a Very Bad Day (yes it deserves capitalisation) it was a feel-good read that soothed my bad mood and was a much needed pick me up.

What is it that soothed me so much about this book? As someone who has read a lot of Aurora Rose Reynolds I knew exactly what to expect; an alpha hero who never quite crosses the line into alpha A-hole and a feisty heroine. And, that is exactly what I got. The romance between them, although predictable it didn't make it any less enjoyable.

This was a fun read and I look forward to seeing if Reynolds brings out more as part of this series now all the Reed sisters are shacked up. I certainly hope so, there'a few stray characters that deserve a HEA! If you are after a quick read that's choc full of sweet and sexy than look no further!

3.5 Stars

I really enjoyed listening to this series, but I will admit I was not a fan of this one. It wasn’t bad, I just don’t enjoy the “secret” to be reveled kind of storyline. I loath that kind of storyline. It was a really stupid and silly secret to keep and the fact the author kept on mentioning how the Heroine needed to disclosed the secret soon really irked my nerves. Which is 100% disappointing since Libby is my favorite sister!

I loved that Libby is fashion forward. I loved her since the first book and I liked the tension between Antonio and her. I liked the reason why Antonio was mean to her and I found their storyline really cute. I also loved the fact she wanted to buy the pizzeria.

I also liked that the book was 30 mins longer than the second book as I think 6 hour books are much better than 5 and half hour books (I know I’m odd but it’s true).

I just hate the SECRET storyline!

My opinion on the narrators still holds true. I love the female narrator and I still think the male narrator speaks like a frat boy, but I still enjoy listening to the series.

I can’t wait for the next one! I love a single daddy storyline.

I have been waiting for Libby and Antonio’s book since we were given hints to there relationship status in previous books.

When I first started this I was worried I wasn’t gonna like Antonio and that he wasn’t gonna redeem himself. But then he did...... and then he lost that redemption for a brief time but the grovel made up for it.

It wasn’t a 5 Star read for me. I didn’t get that OTT Alpha that ARR usually gives me. He had his moments but not as strong as I would have liked. Also he was a jerk to her through a lot of the book. Instead of “claiming what was his” when he was jealous he just acted like a jerk. I didn’t love him as much as I thought I would. But I still loved the story and I did eventually like him. Definitely still worth reading if your an ARR fan.

I could not read this book fast enough. I loved Libby. I was bummed that it took so many years for Antonio to figure his crap out. And then he still held back due to his past relationship. And he pissed me off when he was judging Libby. I don't think he fought hard enough for her. I loved seeing all the couples again. And I love their Mom and Dad and Ina. Antonio's parents were also a nice addition. I loved getting a little bit from Ina's POV also.
