Art Nouveau Novels
With an emphasis on illustration rather than lettering, this top book cover from 1902 still had my eyes popping. All of these Art Nouveau designs are by Margaret Armstrong (1867–1944).
Armstrong’s illustration work focussed on asymmetrical plant and animal motifs used together with a lettering style of her own. Her iconic work became strongly associated with particular authors, such as Henry Van Dyke who published twelve books embellished with Armstrong’s designs.
