Ruby’s Crafty Anniversary Blog Hop

Hi there! Today I’m excited to join Rubeena for her Crafting Anniversary Blog Hop! This hop is an epic 2-Day hop with more than 60 guests and over $600 in sponsored prizes! If you are following the hop then you should have arrived here from Leigh Houston’s blog.
SSS-Rainbow Builder, Picture Book Unicorn & Narwhal, YAYI’ve created two fun cards using products that make me smile: rainbows, unicorns and jumping narwhals!
SSS-Rainbow Builder, Picture Book Narwhal, YAYThis first card uses for the Build a Rainbow & Picture Book Jumping Narwhal dies. for the sentiment is used the CZ Designs Yay stamp set. The clouds are from an older Happy Days die set.
SSS-Rainbow Builder, Picture Book Narwhal, YAYThis next card is very similar but uses the Picture Book Unicorn. I used glitter cardstock for the unicorn and added rosy cheeks with a R00 Copic Marker.
SSS-Rainbow Builder, Picture Book Unicorn, YAYBoth cards use sentiments from the CZ Designs Yay stamp & die sets. Aren’t these fun? I think even my teenagers might think these are cool…well, maybe. I get the “cool” thing wrong every now and then:)SSS-Rainbow Builder, Picture Book Unicorn, YAYHere’s a video to show you how I made these cards.

I really do think that the picture book narwhal is adorable, but I could never buy it, because I wanted to be a marine biologist when I was younger. This means that I know that their “horn” is actually a specialized tooth. Just had to get that out there for everyone who didn’t know.

I love the picture book dies but don’t own any…yet. Your video got me thinking anout cardmaking. I’ve been making cards for 14 years, before that I was a watercolor painter ( as a hobby) to reduce the stress from my nursing career.

Laura, I never knew those images on the die packaging were the same size as the dies. How in the world did I miss that. Your work is always amazing.. I was the old mom at the hockey rink as well. My friend and I used to say we don’t look as old as we are because we spend most of our time in a freezing environment so we are well preserved.

When I saw your cards I immediately thought of a book that I bought my granddaughter at a bookfair at the school I work at. She is eight and dearly loves unicorns. She also likes narwhals. This book is called Not Quite a Narwhal. It’s about a unicorn who was born under the sea and thinks he’s a Narwhal but knows he’s different from the others. A current carries him away one day and he finds creatures who look like him but they live on land instead of under the water. It is a great book. These cards are so cute! I just love the little Narwhal and unicorn. Wonderful job!

Thank you for your continued inspiration (I’m a youtube subscriber). It’s crafters such as Rubeena, Cathy, Jennifer, & yourself, who share their knowledge, experience and fun attitude towards this great hobby of ours, that makes creating and sharing/giving our cards so worthwhile.

Also, I need to buy some picture book critters soon! They are so adorable.
