Every Election is a GOLDEN Opportunity for
a Pivotal Minority to  Advance Its Political Position

Are AsAms ready to seize this opportunity in the HUGE 2020 presidential election?  Unfortunately,  we are not.

FACTS: What 2 AsAm orgs did in the CA governor's election in 2018

To handle a presidential election well, one needs to have a track record of handling a CA gubernatorial election well .

One AsAm org. nicely organized a candidate forum for the CA gubernatorial candidates.  However, the eventual winner, G. Newsom, didn't even bother to appear.  That is OK, this kind of snub happens in politics. What counts is who laughs last.

Unfortunately, Gov. Newsom laughs last.  Despite the fact he snubbed the AsAm community's "Candidate Forum,"  AsAms voted more favorably for Newsom than the general election result of 62 to 38, according to CNN's exit poll.  Will CA politicians feel free to snub us from here on?  You  bet, unless a politically more skillful AsAm org. steps up to turn the table around.

Another org. sent out questionnaires to all CA gubernatorial candidates. None replied, except for John Chiang.  Although John was strongly for "race preference college admissions" against the strongly held principle of 80-20, this PAC endorsed Chiang.   Un fortunately,  Chiang came out 5th in the primary - a reflection on the ineptness of that AsAm PAC.

Conclusion?  Having a PAC means little.  Whether the leaders of the PAC have the political know-how to use it to benefit AsAms is what counts .  In the hands of amateurs, they could hurt us!

                          NEW opportunity BECKONS in 2020

Great news!  CA's Dem presidential primary has moved up 3 months to March 3, 2020. It is only 1 month behind the Iowa Caucus - the first primary. That means that the value of winning the CA Dem primary has increased many fold.   Remember, how S.B. Woo  has used the CA presidential primary in 2008 to induce not only Obama and 8 other presidential candidates to answer 6 yeses to 80-20's questionnaire, but also for Pres. Obama to fulfill his promises.   Remember also how S.B. Woo used the CA primary in 2016 to induce Hillary to promise getting input from 80-20 in some government appointments?

Why is a CA Dem primary of 2020 so important to us?

In any national election, AsAms have only a 3% voter-share.  However, in any CA election, AsAms have an  8% share.   Now in a CA Dem. presidential primary the  politically  unaffiliated voters may vote.   Since AsAms have twice the % of unaffiliated voters and about the same % of Dem. voters as compared to other races, that gives AsAms a 10% voter-share in a CA Dem. presidential primary.  Having a 10% share in the vote gives any PAC/Super-PAC which knows how to organize a bloc vote  a huge tool to win goodies from the presidential candidates.

We Want to Hear from YOU!
  • The current AsAm orgs have done poorly in the CA governor's race. We admire & thank them for their efforts, but do they have the political know-how to handle a presidential election?
  • Should 80-20 EF, under the leadership of S.B. Woo and others, find a way to seize the unprecedented opportunity for the AsAm community?
  • There are ways to get ready legally for March 3, 2020.
