These transitional justice efforts can be contested and denied by other diasporic political entrepreneurs. These changes also come with shifts in power dynamics between corporations, states, and citizens, giving rise to novel political questions. This multidisciplinary event delves into the concentration of power held by Big Tech companies, the societal challenges arising from this concentration, and potential strategies to uphold public imperatives.

‘Thanks, I actually made it myself’: de herwaardering van handwerk en de relatie met activisme

Een draad verbindt, verweeft, verstrikt en verstrengelt zich. Het is materiaal dat talloze mogelijkheden biedt, zowel metaforisch als concreet. Toch is de draad vanuit kunsthistorisch perspectief nooit zo gewaardeerd als olieverf of marmer. Dominante associaties met het medium beperken zich vaak tot het ouderwetse imago van een brave, eenzame bezigheid. Anno 2024 lijkt deze benadering op zijn retour: jongeren, kunstenaars en collectieven omarmen handwerk en transformeren het tot activistische praktijk. Vanavond verkent SPUI25 in Spe dit nieuwe ‘craftivism’.
