Renske Hebing was awarded the AII Extension Grant in 2021 for her research proposal “Pharmacokinetics of Oral and Subcutaneous Methotrexate in Red and White Blood Cells in Patients with Early Rheumatoid Arthritis – the Methotrexate Monitoring Trial (MeMo study)”. Recently, Renske’s article was published in the Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases (ARD).
Dr. Kornel Golebski and Prof. Anke-Hilse Maitland-van der Zee received a ZonMW grant worth 248.000 euros to investigate preclinical technology for the development of COVID-19 therapy.
Prof. Nurmohamed: ‘The Medicines Evaluation Board is where it happens’. Michael Nurmohamed has been a member of the Medicines Evaluation Board (MEB) since 2020. In this article, Prof. Nurmohamed takes us through his experiences at the MEB, his fascination with inflammatory diseases and cardiovascular complaints, and his plans for the future.
For the series Onderwater Ondervraagt, Laurien Onderwater interviews Dutch scientists. In January 2023, it was the turn of our Marjolein van Egmond, immunologist at Amsterdam UMC. The article elaborates on Prof. Van Egmond's research in which she focuses on antibodies and their role in autoimmune diseases and cancer.

Getting to the bottom of why immunotherapy fails in Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. Could understanding how Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia manipulates T-cell populations improve outcomes for patients that have exhausted all other options?
Carriers of a specific hidden bacteria have a 14% chance of developing an antibiotic resistant infection with 30 days of hospitalisation, according to researchers from Amsterdam UMC. 
Researchers from Amsterdam UMC and Radboud UMC discovered that people living with HIV that were screened for anal cancer precursors were more likely to be diagnosed with anal cancer. This diagnosis occured at an earlier disease stage than unscreened individuals, resulting in better survival.

The Amsterdam UMC Fellowship vacancy (maximum of €750,000 for five years) for 2023 is open for applications. The fellowship aims to attract extremely talented researchers, who have the potential to build, expand and maintain their own successful research group. The fellowship includes a tenure track with the possibility to acquire a tenured position after five years.

The fund supports young clinicians at Amsterdam UMC who, in addition to their training to become general practitioners, specialists, occupational physicians, etc., wish to delve further into scientific research and train as Epidemiologists.

The OKE fund will reimburse 50% of (max. € 8,495) the tuition fees for the Master's program in Epidemiology organized by EpidM. 

This call is for physicians in their PhD program and young staff members of all research institutes of Amsterdam UMC.

On October 7th and 8th 2023, during Science Weekend, everyone everywhere in the Netherlands can take a look behind the scenes of science. This way, Dutch people can experience technology and science up close. Science weekend is focused on children between the ages of 8-14 with their (grand)parents.
