Winning Whitney is romance at it's most complicated. Jake and Whitney are perfect together, but life has a tendency to keep getting in the way. A chance meeting turned into a night of passion and a morning of heartache. Will these two star crossed lovers, have the chance to get it right? The right match happened at the wrong time, but fate isn't done with these two yet. What if, just became an irresistible challenge that delivers a dramatic twist keeps you hooked until the very end.

Ahh… The wonderful, emotional drama…

I love a story I can get lost in and Jake and Whitney had me from their first encounter. And what a meeting it was! Little did either of them know that the secrets each carried were landmines just waiting to be triggered. The question was, would they – and their relationship – survive the fallout? I couldn’t wait to find out…

Whitney and Jake connected in a crazy whirlwind that I thought would set the pace for their courtship but I was so wrong. Life, secrets and more life meant they had to take a step back and work really hard to regain the intimacy and trust they had started with. It wasn’t easy but I admired Whitney’s conviction. She stuck to her guns and Jake respected that. How they worked at their relationship was an exercise in patience and perseverance for them both and they managed it with humour and tears, some loud voices and angry words but always with love beneath it all. And they would need it as the hits just kept coming…

This was a story filled with interesting characters, an interfering grandmother, perhaps a cute puppy or two and lots and lots of balls in the air. With a recurring theme of never enough drama, this author knows how to write “get lost in the twists and turns” stories. I’m not sure if there is a formula at work here but whatever it is I know I don’t ever want a cure!

Reviewed on http://bookaddict.blog,
Winning Whitney is story of Jake the captain of The Alaska Blizzards, we have met him in previous books, but this can still be read as a standalone. Whitney is staying with Hayley and Kane looking after their twins.
Whitney is absolutely gobsmacked when a man she spent a hot few days with in Boston four years previously walks into Hailey’s house with Kane. Whitney realizes Jake is Jackson who she has never forgotten. Jake can’t believe it’s  his found the woman his never forgotten.
Every time Jake and Whitney are together in a room both feel the sexual tension, but there is so much going on in both their lives the road ahead is rocky. As we all know the fun is in going along that road.
Another romance in this enchanting series based in Alaska that always make me shiver when I read one. A good solid romance with plenty sexual tension between the two.
All the books in this series can be read as a standalone, but reading them in order gives you a greater understanding of the background other characters who begin to feel like old friends. As this is only book three, its not that many books to catch up on.

This one was interesting due to the history Jack and Whitney had, along with Whitney's family and what she was hiding. I really liked the night that Jack and Whitney had in the past, thought she made a good decision when she learned some facts. Fast forward all these years and the connection that both of them felt is still there. I liked that Whitney gave it a chance, yet with strict conditions, made sense knowing her family history.

When things were good with these two, they were really good. I hated that it got spoiled just when Whitney was ready to share her past with Jack and how he reacted. Part of his reactions makes sense, part of it not so much.

Whitney had to do what she did at the end, but I loved how she made it work for herself and you know that she will be a force to be reckoned with. I'm just glad that she will have Jack at her side.

Wow! What a fantastic book that had me hooked from page one. I love the morals that Whitney insisted on when Jake ( Jackson) hasn’t finalized his divorce. Stayed on edge, how much Jake has to put up with Addy before getting divorced? What happened in Whitney’s past? What’s she hiding? I cried when Jackson feels hurt by her. What will she decide to do? I devoured this book in hours, it’s that good, couldn’t put it down. I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy and I highly recommend this book.

I stopped reading at about 42%. I get the heroine’s hesitation to not want to be with a married man. I get that some divorces take months if not years to finalize. But what I do not understand is the forced chemistry that is put upon readers as if it made sense. They slept with each other twice then were apart for four years but there is still a flame. I don’t think so make me believe that any sane woman wants that kind of baggage. And to top everything off its like the author tried to include every inconceivable thing in a story to make it more interesting when all it did was make my interest wane. Not to mention excess of word diarrhea with descriptions and feelings or what have you. Is the heroine a nomad, heiress, a babysitter or just plain indecisive ? Not my kind of story.

Winning Whitney is book 3 in the Alaska Blizzard series by Kat Mizera. I have been dying to read Whitney's book since been introduced to her in book 2 "HOLDING HAILEY" where Kane and Hailey helped rescue Whitney from a stalker in Boston. Now in book 3, Whitney has relocated to Alaska and is working as a nanny for Hailey and Kane, helping take care of their newborn twins. She had the shock of her life when she runs into the man she had a 1-night stand with in Boston 4 years before and has never forgotten;Jake Carruthers who happens to also be the captain of the Blizzard hockey team. Awkward!!!! Whitney never forgot their night together and neither did Jake. Never forgot Whitney and that night that stayed blazed in his memories and now that he is back around Whitney, he is going to do his best to make that 1 night into forever!!!

My Rating: 4.5 stars *****

Now this is part of a series, but it can be read as a stand-alone. It took some adjusting with the background of the characters but overall I enjoyed the book. I would say up until 60% the book dragged along. After 60% the author really threw you curveballs right and left and your head was spinning with everything happening. I mean Whitney wanted full and complete honestly with Jack but wasn’t willing to give him her truth, ugh hypocritical much? She made a big deal about being truthful and honest but was living a lie? Get it together, girl. Jack was truthful with her on his past and what he was dealing with and I felt for him when she didn’t want to tell him her past. How do you build a relationship on that?

I loved being back with the Blizzard gang again. Whitney isn’t my favorite character in these stories so far, but I enjoyed the story. I love Jake, the captain of the Blizzards. He’s had a rough marriage, and during a separation with his wife meets Whitney. Whitney is trying to find herself away from her famous family, and once she finds out that Jake is still technically married, she is not wanting to be the other woman.

Four years later, Whitney is in Alaska as a nanny for another Blizzards player, and she and Jake cross paths again. She keeps pushing him away, since he’s not divorced yet. But chemistry like theirs can’t be denied.

I’d recommend this book.

This series just sweeps me off my feet! Beautiful location, my favorite sport and emotional characters that I want in my lives who can ask for more... I've been excited for Whitney's story for what feels like months and Kat Mizera did not disappoint with this emotional tale! Jake and Whitney's journey isn't one without road blocks and bumps but it's completely worth the ride we are taken on. If you haven't started this series I don't know what you are waiting for, jump in with both feet and enjoy the ride!

Jake and Whitney's love is like coming home. After a one night stand and not seeing each other for four years these two seem like two magnets drawn to each other. It was only a matter of time before these two fell for each other. You are going to enjoy this story so much.

Well I didn't see this one coming! Kat Mizera kept me on the edge of my seat with this one. I was really afraid there was going to be a not so happy ending as she really kept me guessing. It was a hot steamy Hockey romance story with a bit of a mystery running through it. I loved the story of Jake and Whitney, Kat Mizera spun her web of love and lies and I became entangled. If you have been following this series, you will want to jump into Winning Whitney as soon as possible.

I loved reading Whitney and Jake/Jack’s second chance romance! There was a lot of push and pull Of emotion and I enjoyed every minute of the adventure.
I thought Whitney was a little too closed off, but I know she has her reasons.

Four years ago Jake Carruthers and Whitney Sommers had the most incredible encounter during a blizzard in Boston. But, when Whitney found out that Jake was still married even though he had filed for divorce, it was over before they had a chance to really explore all that was between them.

Flash forward four years and both Whitney and Jake get the shock of their lives when they come face to face in the hospital room of their mutual friend Hailey as she prepares to give birth. Whitney’s come to Alaska to be Hailey’s nanny as a way to escape a stalker as well as run from her past for just s bit longer.

But, as much as she wants to escape her past, it comes rushing right at her in the form of Jake Carruthers and memories of their one night stand. Jake also wants to explore what he can have with Whitney, as he’s never forgotten their explosive connection. Just waiting on his ex to sign the papers, he’s ready to go all in with Whitney, as she really is the one that got away.

But, everything isn’t as it seems Jake’s ex isn’t easily going to give him up and Whitney’s hiding a past riddled with so many secrets and lies that it could cause her to lose everything when the truth finally comes out. Cn Whitney and Jake navigate the minefield of secrets that lie ahead, or will they find themselves on different paths towards a future that doesn’t include one another?

Honestly, with each book that Kat Mizera writes, this series gets better and better! I loved getting a deeper look into the team captain to see just what makes Jake tick . . .especially after catching a glimpse of him and his ex in previous books of the series. He seems so strong and steady when guiding his teammates and it was nice to really see him on a more personal level, even losing is cool when things with Whitney hit a rough spot.

I loved Whitney, but hot damn does she come with a bucket full of issues! With each and every reveal I was more and more surpised and sucked deeper into her story. I loved her desire to be herself and be independent, which drives her character’s decisions and makes her who she really is.

Together Jake and Whitney are really something special. I loved watching Jake pull out all the stops to win Whitney. I also loved how much she attempted to protect Jake from her past. I love that their love story isn’t easy and that they both have to learn to trust and compromise to give their love a chance to blossom.

I also have to give a shout out to Gage Caldwell, owner of the Blizzards. Once again, his character swoops in to help save the day . . . I am dying to know his story and why he is willing to do just about anything when his players need a little help winning the women they love and can’t wait for his story!

5 stars for Winning Whitney! Kat Mizera really outdid herself with this book!

Winning Whitney (Alaska Blizzard Book 3) by Kat Mizera
Wow totally unexpected!!! This latest installment of the Alaska Blizzard series is my favorite to date. I have been eagerly waiting for this installment and was happy to see it was Whitney’s story.
Whitney Sommers, nanny and friend to Hailey. She is trying to find out what she wants to be when she grows up. In the meantime, she moved to Alaska to help Hailey with her and Kane’s twins. She has many secrets that could potentially derail her entire life.
Jackson “Jake” Carruthers, hockey player for the Alaska Blizzard and a not so happily married man……..well separated and filed for a divorce. He has been very unhappy for a long time and just wants to move on with his life and play hockey.
Four years ago, these two met and spent a wonderful weekend together. Unfortunately, these two never forgot their brief encounter, so when Whitney sees him in Alaska all of feelings of that night come flooding back. Will these two be able to be civil and be together? Is Jake still married? You are going to have to read to find out.
Kat has provided her readers with a sports themed romance series that will blow your skates off. The characters all have chemistry and there are several times when I read that I just want to beat them up and tell them to wise up! Trust me when I tell you these books are not cookie cutter; Kat never ceases to amaze me with the twist and turns the characters in her books take. This book however, has the best twists to date in the series. It was totally unexpected.
If you are an avid reader and are looking for a good book or series. This is that series. Imagine snuggling under a blanket with a glass of wine (or hot chocolate) reading about hunky hockey stars then you MUST READ this. I highly recommend this book and series.

With his divorce about to be final Jake Carruthers is ready to move on and start living again. For the last couple of years his marriage was barely hanging by a thread, the love was gone, and his soon to-be ex-wife was so wrapped up in having a child that she missed the fact that it was over. When he learns that a special somebody from his past is now living in the same town as him again, he can't help but hope it's fate intervening and putting them together again. But what he doesn't know is that Whitney doesn't plan on sticking around Anchorage for long...

Whitney Sommers is a woman with a lot of secrets, and a past that won't seem to let her go, which is precisely why she is hiding out in Anchorage for a while, helping friends with their newborns. Then her plan to hideout for a while hits a little snag, when an memorable man from a past one night stand wanders back into her life, and he brings loads of feels with him. She isn't ready for a serious relationship, but when it comes to Jake a little fling is out of the question... he is more of a long term kind of guy!

Within the pages of Winning Whitney lies a story that will give a nice little tug on the heartstrings, it's sweet, swoony, and good for the heart! This is my first visit to this series, and I am totally kicking myself for not making a visit before now, I loved my time with Jake and Whitney. From the moment I met them they pulled me into their world and had me feeling the words and the sparks, and smiling like a fool. Highly recommend you get your hands on this one, it's exquisitely crafted story line and endearing characters will leave you smiling, and swimming in feels!!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.

Jake Carruthers is captain of the Alaska Blizzard and has worked hard to get where he is in life and career. After many years of trying for a child, Jake files for divorce after his wife no longer enjoys the little things in life and is focused only on having children. He no longer enjoys his life at home, and he is determined to start over and find his happiness.

One night while on the road for an away-game, Jake meets the most gorgeous woman that he has ever laid eyes on. Whitney is not only beautiful, but smart and funny which has Jake falling head over heels. Together they spend a few nights in a hotel making love while waiting out a blizzard. The connection between them is unlike anything either of them has ever felt, but when Whitney learns that Jake's divorce isn't finalized she can't help but feel betrayed.

Years later when fate brings them together again, Jake will do everything in his power to prove to Whitney that he is in it for the long haul. Whitney finds it difficult to trust him after the past that they've shared, but allows Jake to prove himself. Will Jake and Whitney find their happily ever after? Or will the secrets between them be more than they bargained for and leave them both broken hearted?

(I received an ARC of Winning Whitney from Kat Mizera in exchange for my honest review.)

Winning Whitney is a heartwarming tale about second chances and finding what makes you truly happy in life. Both Jake and Whitney have hearts of gold, but have both struggled with love in their pasts. As you read through the novel, the secrets of their pasts begin to unravel and you learn what makes both characters one of a kind. This sweet hockey romance will have you picking up all of the novels in the Alaska Blizzard series in a heart beat!

Kat Mizera scores a hat trick with the third book in the Alaska Blizzard series, WINNING WHITNEY. I had been anxiously awaiting reading Whitney’s story ever since we were introduced to her in book two, HOLDING HAILEY. Kane and Hailey helped rescue Whitney from a stalker in Boston. In book three, Whitney relocates to Anchorage to work as Kane’s and Hailey’s nanny. She is shocked when she runs into the man she had a one-night-stand with in Boston four years prior and has never been able to forget; the captain of the Blizzard, Jake Carruthers. Talk about awkward. Interestingly enough, Whitney is not the only one that never forgot their night together.

Kat Mizera did a great job with these characters. Jake and Whitney have a lot of problems to deal with. There are trust issues and lies through omission. They have wonderful chemistry. They are both good people that mean well. I like how Jake and Whitney grow through the story. Whitney did not end up being anything like I imagined she would be when we were introduced to her. I was surprised by her background. It made for a fascinating story. It was nice seeing Jake get a second chance after the train wreck of his first marriage.

I enjoyed the plot. It was unique and held me captivated. It flowed well. The hockey scenes are skillfully written. I like that it touched on things that happened in the previous books but could be read on its own. WINNING WHITNEY is a great addition to the Alaska Blizzard Series. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

Another amazing book by Kat Mizera in her Alaska Blizzard series. Jackson "Jake" Carruthers is the captain of the Alaska Blizzard hockey team and trying to move on from a failed marriage to his college sweetheart. Whitney Sommers is a college graduate who is helping her friends, Hailey and Kane, care for their twins and trying to hide from her family and the responsibilities that come with them. Jake and Whitney hooked up 4 years ago during a snow storm in Boston, but Whitney put a halt to their fling when Jake told her he was still married but separated. Fast forward 4 years, Jake and Whitney are surprised to see each other. Jake is waiting for his ex to sign the divorce papers and tells Whitney that he will do whatever it takes to be with her again. Whitney has a hard time trusting Jake after experiencing what her father did to her mother. Can Whitney learn to trust Jake's feelings for her? How will Jake react when he learns who Whitney really is? Can Whitney and Jake move past the lies and hurts and realize they are better together than apart? I really loved Winning Whitney by Kat Mizera. Winning Whitney is an amazing story with fantastic characters that will warm your heart and make you smile. Love the chemistry and passion between Jake and Whitney. I would highly recommend getting Winning Whitney by Kat Mizera. Another great book by an amazing author. I received an ARC of this book, and I am leaving my honest review.

I received a review copy of the book before release for an honest review.

This is book 3 in the series and it was beyond wonderful. It stars Jake/Jack, the hockey team Captain of an Alaskan team and Whitney who is best friends with Jake's friends. Her past is very mysterious but she comes to town to help out her best friend when she has twins.

Jake/Jack met Whitney four years before and they had some great times until he told her he was married. (he was in middle of a divorce). Now four years later the two are friends with the same people and now live in the same small town, so they run into each other a lot. BUT Jack is yes still in middle of a divorce, so that still is an issue for Whitney.

I LOVED Whitney sooooooooo much. Jake is pretty wonderful too even if at times I didn't understand why he still was sympathetic with his ex. His ex does make an appearance but she never comes between Jake and Whitney. What I didn't like about her was more about how she takes up with his best friend. She really was so icky that I hate that she is still around and causing trouble for another character, Sara.

But this book was kinda wonderful until Whitney's secret comes out and well Jake does not do well with secrets and Whitney and him struggle and my heart kinda broke for both of them. I am not spoiling anything, you will have to read this one yourself but it was pretty great. Maybe my top one in this series.

Another spectacular sports romance by Kat Mizera. A quick fast pace read. A story about wrong timing and second chances. Winning Whitney is the third book in the Alaska Blizzard series, it can be read as a stand alone but I do recommend you read the entire series.

Whitney and Jake met by chance, they shared an unforgettable night and an intense connection. But the timing wasn’t right. Jake wasn’t in a place to see or date anyone, not until his divorce was final. His focus was on being the best captain to the Alaska Blizzards hockey team, not on getting involved in a new relationship.

Whitney wasn’t ready to make life long decisions, she wasn’t sure where she wanted to live, where she wanted to work, her life was full of family secrets and she wasn’t ready to settle down— especially not with a married man.

Four years later they meet again, once again the timing isn’t right but this time they are willing to fight for a chance at true love. It isn’t a Kat Mizera book without the angst, secrets, love, and passion, this book has all that and then some. A great book with the perfect mix of romance and hockey.

I can not wait to see who will get next in the series!

4.5 stars!

The first time Jake Carruthers met Whitney Sommers neither one of them thought it would lead to an unforgettable tryst and they never expected to see each other again. Fast forward four years and suddenly they find themselves face to face in Anchorage, Alaska.

Jake has had enough problems with his estranged wife, working through a divorce. Whitney wants to hold off any relationship until she sees the divorce paperwork, not trusting Jake since his wife has convinced him to take her back before. Whitney has secrets of her own, but Jake is willing to wait and let her tell him in her own time. Both are working through trust issues.

I loved Jake, he was so self-assured and only wanted what was best for Whitney. Whitney just couldn’t decide what it was that she wanted; after graduating from Harvard she worked as a waitress and now is working as a nanny. I was annoyed that Whitney hid so much of her life from Jake, but it all worked out in the end.

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Winning Whitney is yet another amazing addition to the Alaska Blizzard series. I love how Kat Mizera just draws you in and makes you fall in love with not only Hockey but the men and woman behind it all. Jack and Whitney have a past and that right there will pull you in and have you just hoping things can work out between them. There story is all about timing, trust, secrets and love. Once everything comes out you will not be able to put this one down. Seriously Jack is amazing. He is doing everything he can to get rid of the toxic wife and free himself to be Whitney's. You can just feel the love between them. And Jack is just a guy you want in your life. Whitney you can tell from the start she is hiding from something. Once you finally figure out what it is you have your fingers crossed that everything will be okay in the end. I couldn't put this down and I want more of the Alaska Blizzard men. Such a fantastic read.

I love everything Kat Mizera writes and have especially enjoyed reading her Alaska Blizzards hockey series. Each book in the series is about a different hockey player on the Alaska Blizzards. Her newest book, Winning Whitney, is the third installment and it is a smoothly written, engaging story. It is a second chance romance, which is one of my favorite genres.

Jake is the captain of the Alaska Blizzards. He is sweet, charming and down to earth. He is immediately attracted to Whitney and he wants to be with her but his life is complicated. Even though Whitney finds it hard to resist Jake, circumstance keep them apart.

I liked Jake and Whitney and enjoyed their smoking hot chemistry. They care about each other but they have issues they are trying to work out. I also enjoyed all the camaraderie between the secondary characters. They have a strong friendship, have fun together and know they can count in each other. I loved this story and watching Jake and Whitney fall in love.

I am so in love with the Alaska Blizzard series!

Regardless whether you love hockey or not, Winning Whitney is a story you must read. Kat Mizera knows how to work her characters right into your heart, and that's exactly what she did with Jake and Whitney. These two were seriously meant to be together and it was so obvious from the sparks that happened when they were together. Mizera is known for working her magic and can create the best love story, full of angst, drama, and passion. For Jake and Whitney, both had endured their share of heartache so when they were reunited years later, I couldn't wait to see what happened. Toss in a couple twists and you've got an amazing love story. Oh, and it's also an added treat when previous characters make their appearance.

Each story in this series just keeps getting better. Thanks Kat Mizera for another heart felt, emotional read. I loved it!!

Solid 4.5 star
They met 4 ago, spent less than 48 hours together which finished when Jack revealed a secret with her, she left and neither thought they would see each other ever again even though they never forgot their time together. Now much to both of their surprise they meet again and have to work out if they can even be friends and act normal around each other. I really loved how this was not a quick lets get together read, it was slow and guarded as you would expect while they both work through their feeling. I loved getting glimpses of the real Whitney that Grandma knows and how Jack would be patient with her while he sorted out Addy, I hated how we didn't know what Whitney was hiding from everyone but you jut wanted to grab her hand and let her know she has friends she can trust. This was a great read which was made even better by including previous characters as well as getting to know others who I hope will be in the coming books of the series.
